URGENT!

Poor Phoebe was at the shelter for about 2 months and her time was up there. She was nervous and scared in their shelter cages of all the loud barking dogs and noises. Once out in the office she relaxed and seeked cuddling from staff lady. Very sweet and gentle. Tested fine with other shelter dogs. She did fine with our transporter and vet office. Cuddled with our volunteer transporter. At her foster home she first hid, but her foster home walked in, she ran out of hiding into her arms. She is now very happy and feels safe. Princess Phoebe. So cute. More info. and photos to come as she relaxes at her foster home with 3 other dogs.

5/3/25 update from Foster Home:  1 week.  Phoebe is affectionate and sweet at their home.  Now that she is relaxed, she is bolder and wil guard her food bowl or chew and person to foster home's other 3 dogs, especially their female bull dog (will attack her) but fine with 5 lbs female chi and large dog.  Need to feed in sep area and train her to wait her turn.  Must learn to wait for her food or she may try to grab person's food.  She enjoys walks and cuddly sweet with person.  She does fine hanging out with their male dobie and napping on sofa with him.  Phoebe needs to be the only dog in home or fine with larger male or female dog.  With her personality, need experienced adult home.  Older kids are fine.  She has learned to go out to yard for potty biz.  After 1 1/2 weeks, she is now friendly with men and men friends that visited.  Seeks attention.   Now almost leash trained.

With our volunteer walker, she was great with her large shep mix female dog for walks and day care at her home.  Loves people attention.

Angelo had been to a specialist and got confirmation of a Progressive Restrictive Cardiomyopathy and mild non-progressive cardiomyopathy.  The vet could not give us any idea if and when his heart would start giving him difficulties. Vet did state that someday when it does act up there are meds that will help for awhile.  Angelo will live out his life in his loving FFR foster home. .

Honey litter. Honey and her 6 nursing puppies, 3 males & 3 females, were rescued from a distant shelter on 9/3/24. All super adorable. Mom was protective and nervous at the shelter. Once in our hero foster home, she is a sweetie, affectionate and friendly. Allows handling of her puppies. Honey is a great mom. Puppies are all friendly, playful. Various weights. They are super healthy, love eating, playing, being petted and following person around. We are not sure of their breed mix. Mom looks like a Terrier/Whippet mix, 25 lbs. Meet their mom, Honey!

10/8/24 Update from foster home: Clover is active, playful puppy. Loves playing with another dog at home.  Need home with attached backyard and someone WFH (home every 2 hours, see puppy training needs on this page) for puppy care and house-training.

12/18/24: Foster home says he is curious of cats but good with hers and house-trained.

11/3/24 Update from foster home: Clover is a very active puppy.  He loves people, our dog Finn and toys.  He loves food and is fairly easy to train with treats.  He knows “sit”, knows “off” but needs to be reminded and is mostly potty trained to go out to yard.  No peed pads inside home.  He sleeps in his crate over night and doesn’t whine.   He loves to cuddle with us.  He needs contact with people at home and another dog playmate or doggie day care as he grows up.  

3/18/25:  Clover and Acacia play.  They also play with people. They are polite to foster home's sr. dog who can play so they are respectful to her.

Update 1/4/25: Poor Cooper is having exploratory surgery for a obstruction in his intestine seen in his x-ray. Difficult surgery.  Surgery will cost us over $6,000  Need donations to help cover his surgery cost.

Update: 1/5/25 Cooper is home and resting. Successful surgery to remove a large piece of Silicon Can lid. No GI rupture. Beware to keep all silicon lids and bags away from your pets. It doesn't digest and can cause blockage like it to Cooper. Without exploratory surgery, he would have died. Some cats like the silicon lids and want to play with them. Do not allow this and put away, or better yet, don't use them. Same for ROPE toys.

Dancer was left at a distant shelter as a under-aged puppy at 6 weeks old. He was dirty and timid, so the shelter put him with Prancer, cattle dog mix puppy, also 6 weeks old. We rescued both of them and now they are doing great at their hero puppy foster home. They will get a great start since their foster home is also a trainer. Both are playful and adorable. Update from Foster Home 1/3/25: Dancer has grown quite a bit and he is quite a busy guy.  More active.  He likes to cuddle but he also will wiggle out of your arms if he is full of energy. He can climb over the 2’ dog puppy pen.  No cats. He has a confident and maybe sport dog type of personality.

Meet the dog with the world's biggest heart! Hank has tons of love to share in the form of cuddles, snuggles, and adoration for his family. Hank refuses to pick favorites-in fact, he's a fan of yours already! He has excellent manners-no jumping up when saying hello, never begging, and asking permission before getting onto a bed or couch. Hank would be happiest in a house where folks have deep reserves of affection ready to share with him.

This energetic boy will need people who welcome a dog with spirit, strength, and passions: car rides, long walks, hikes, and fetch (only the best game in the world). He has shown some dog reactivity while on leash, but with reminders and training he's already showing signs of improvement. He has successfully lived with cats in the past, but would require a gradual introduction with any new kitty friends. He admits that his natural inclination is to chase cats (squirrels are also kind of irresistible). We don't know yet how Hank would do with children. Hank's dream situation would include humans of his very own to love, squeaky toys, and a yard.

Hank's DNA results show that he's a Super Mutt Mix! He's 50% Boxer mixed with German Shepherd, Golden Retriever and Border Collie.

Hank was surrendered because his senior guardian was no longer able to care for him.

Hansel was rescued from a distant shelter. He has been neglected, yet he is very sweet, warms up, then friendly, and cuddles when being carried. Huge thanks to Tama Veterinary Hospital for squeezing him in on the day we rescued him. He was loaded with fleas and had to have capstar to kill all the fleas and has pot belly from worms. Hansel got exam, stool test, Drontal plus (dewormer), rabies and microchip. Ear infection was cleaned with 2 week ear meds packed in. His foster home had to bath him right away to get rid of the fleas and dirt. Poor Hansel is so young but was neglected with poor diet, fleas and worms thus dull coat. He will get extra TLC, have dog playmates and get healthy soon at his HERO Foster Home that WFH. Fh cooks home-made foods to add to meals. Onward now to a great happy and spoiled life.

9/30/23 update from his Foster Home: He will try anything without fear as long as he knows I am nearby to keep him safe. He fetches a ball and returns it. His recall is excellent.  He is doing very well on a leash. Loves playing in water. Gusto followed his dog buddies right into the water and started swimming.  He is very motivated to play with other dogs once introduced properly.  Fine with her cat.  He is getting lots of socialization opportunities. He is active and need daily brisk long walks and jogs.  Foster home thinks he may need active guardians for K9 work or dog sports. Very intelligent, curious, receptive, and high energy. He goes on one leash walk and two off leash walks/hikes per day. No kids because he will chase them. 

Update:  Hansel needs to stay on leash to learn not to want to chase after runners, cars or bikes. This is common for some young teens if not trained to ignore. Need one on one training to train impulse control and recall.  He will work with a trainer soon for loose leash training.

From our GSD experienced volunteers and what we have seen, he seems to be a normal smart GSD teen energy, but does need active and experienced guardian for daily exercise, someone home, and focus on one on one training and classes.  Dog sports is always fun and great for young dogs.  Need to train for recall and other commands.  Loves playing with other dogs.

She is friendly with people she knows and she is moderate active. Good with other dogs she knows, but can be very dog dominate with some dogs when she was at doggie day care for 2 weeks, or strange dogs on walks.  In her temp foster home, she was not good with female GSD stray that was off leash and ran up to her.  After a few meets, she was ok with her but ignored while on leash.  Katniss needs a very experienced guardian to guide and continue her training. She had a mild ear infection which was treated and she is fine now.  Needs experienced guardian for training and exercise with no other dog and someone that understands that not all dogs are social butterflies.  Katniss is loyal and bonds to her guardian, and prefers to be the only dog.  No dog parks.  Katniss would be a great best friend and hiking buddy!   

Prior to temp., foster home.  Katniss was doing well at her boarding & trainer's home.  She is smart, loves attention of people she bonds to and has been good with their other dogs with trainer supervision.  They have high GSD training experience to watch body language and their GSD are well trained to leave Katniss alone.

In a temp. foster home, she adjusted and became affectionate.  Loves her home life, relaxing, hanging out with her people, toys, treats, uses a doggie door and large yard.  Pulls on leash very hard and she is strong.  But now she prefers to be the only dog and good with people she knows. Reactive leary to strangers and visitors.  Loves treats and knows "Sit" command.  With visitors, she needs time to warm up before she will trust them.  She will react with "stranger danger".  She needs a very experienced adult home for basic quiet walks, routine, home with backyard and experienced/confident adult guardian with GSD to give her time (2-3 weeks to adjust).

She is emotionally sensitive to change. Phobic of change due to early spay.  At her foster home, she was good with mom and 2 sons (17 & 20 yrs), but leary and growled at the father.  At their home, she loved belly rubs, lounging on the sofa, quiet, and light ball play.  When she is unsure of a person (husband or strangers), she will bark or do low growl.  On walks, she would look at other people or dogs in the distance and did not bark.  Does bark at neighbor's dog from fence.  Will stare and chase squirrel, cat and possum on top of fence.

Update July 2020:  She is now in a very experienced foster home dealing with behavior issue dogs with no other dog at home to work with her.  She is fearful, phobic and very emotionally sensitive of change (more so then other dogs).  Takes her days to weeks to adjust, won't eat or drink, hides in her crate, fearful, and holds her potty biz.  Once she gets over her phobic fear stage in 5 days, she does relaxes and is normal.  Loves belly rubs, lovable, loves being petted, gives kisses, will lounge, watch TV, follow, and being brushed.  She loves kong on rope, squeaky or wobbly motion toys and chase after ball.  Katniss loves cheese, chicken, beef, and some fruit.  She is very strong on leash and wants to hunt for cats or small critters on walks, thus she goes into hunt mode.  She has very high prey drive to cats and small critters.  Once she sees a prey, she is very stubborn, focused, ignores treats, and will not listen to corrections. Wearing a dog pack back and squirt bottle works some with "no".  Took many months for her to now listen but will pull for the critter.  Need to stop and correct with No and stand firm.  Treats do not work.  Katniss wants to go out the door first (bolt) so need to set up dog pen in front door and continue training her with "Stay" and "Wait".   Foster home has to be very strong to hold her leash.  She is a huntress.   At home, she is very good at relaxing, will watch TV, likes Hawaiian music (rush out to yard to play), playing with squeaky toys/balls/tug-o-toy, very sweet and calm at home, will give kisses, shake paw for treats, and a buddy. She is alert and will bark at anyone at front door (protective) or other size of yard.  For yard, show squirt bottle or hose, and now knows to stop and go inside when told.   For now, she is a sanctuary dog unless someone can deal with her behavior issues, walk her during very quiet time to avoid other dogs and strangers, strong to hold her when needed, and deal with high prey drive.  Katniss is a loyal body guard on walks.

Linus is part of Charlie Brown Litter. Holly, mom is French Bull Dog /Boston Terrier mix.  2/16/24 DNA test results:  Dad was a Cattle Dog 40% and 9% Border Collie.   They should be medium size adults and smart.

Holly was abandoned at a distant shelter and was very pregnant. Linus' DOB: 12/1/23. Once we rescued Holly and she arrived at her foster home, within 2 hours she went into labor and gave birth to 5 puppies. 2 girls and 3 boys. Whew! Just in time. All the pups and mom did great at their foster home. Home raised, healthy, lovable and social. The 5 pups are now learning at their next foster home for puppy training. All are playful, snuggly, and lovable. We do not know what they are mixed with. They seem larger than Frenchie pups and have tails. We will start to review applications Jan 20th. Puppies will be 8 weeks old on Jan. 27th and will get their first vaccinations and deworm. Need home with attached backyard. More info. to come on each puppy's personality.

1/24/24 Update: The 3 boys are fairly similar all playful and slower than the girls. Linus and Snoopy are a little more timid but get more playful when riled up by Brody. All love attention and to be held. They all did very well getting their first shots and these puppies are extremely smart and well behaved for such young puppies. They are learning sit and not to bite and are all doing very, very well. They will make wonderful family pets for someone. Their temperament is fantastic, gentle playful and sweet.

2/9/24 Update, 10 weeks old: Patty is definitely the smallest with smallest paws. Snoopy and Linus are about the same size 12 pounds and Patty is 10 lbs.. I think they will be medium sized dogs. Snoopy and Linus are slower and calmer. Patty is spunky and more independent and curious and a little more Frenchie personality . All learning crate training. Few accidents on pee pads now. They will hold to go out to backyard for potty biz.

3/1/25 Update: Linus is older kid friendly. He loves to get cuddles and loves belly rubs. He poops and pees in backyard. He likes to play with his brother Charlie. They enjoy running and playing with each other. He likes to go for a walk. He is trained to be in a crate to sleep. Able to understand instructions: come, sit, walk, wait, walk with me. In English and Hindi. Linus loves all varieties of dog friendly fruits and vegetables. Loves long drives. Basically he just loves to stay with family.  Need experienced guardian to guide him.

5/2/25 Update: Linus needs and wants routine home.  He gets very nervous with change.  At his foster boarding home and trainer, after a day or two, he is great with large dogs and they run/play.  However, he is reactive to new incoming dogs into their home.  He does fine on walks and did fine at our showcases with new people and other dogs.  

7/11/25 Update:  Linus needs a new foster home due to previous foster home's travels.  He is now in a boarding/training foster home as we search for adopter or foster to adopter. He is smart and learning all commands.  He is social, friendly and great with all dogs and people.  Lovable and very sweet once he adjusts.  Loves running and playing with the adult big dogs and teen pups.  Prefers to have someone around.  Did great with vet exam and everyone adores him.   CATS: Tama vet has an office cat that has walked around him and he didn’t seem to care.

Hi all! I am fostering this lovely, snuggly, and slightly timid beagle girl for Hope For China Dogs Rescue. The pup and I are in Daly City, CA, but the rescue is in LA. The rescue saves mistreated dogs from illegal breeding and the meat trade in China and brings them here to find them better lives. Lisa, 4.5 years old, has a sweet, gentle disposition, is very good meeting new people (very polite and gentle), is good in the car, is dog-friendly in a quiet way, is cat-friendly, is a couch potato who likes belly rubs, and is a snuggle bug and slipper thief. She is short and stocky (needs to lose some weight), has thick, soft fur, and huge paws! She is about 50% of the way there on potty training, and often uses pee pads when inside. She needs English lessons (lol) and basic obedience. She does pull on leash, but not crazily so. No leash aggression. She is startled by loud, sudden noises, but further exposure will lessen this. She is learning what dog treats are (she is still spitting some out) and is getting used to dog food (I'm feeding raw). She does have some separation anxiety when left alone, but if another dog is with her, she seems fine. Ideally, she should have a dog sibling and/or someone who is home much of the day. She needs to lose weight (she's currently 31.5 lbs and could safely lose around 4-8 lbs). Diet and exercise will help her a lot. She is chipped, spayed, and up to date on everything. Max (watch my video!) was at a distant overcrowded shelter for over a month when his time was up. He had no options left so we rescued him. All the volunteers adore him. Despite having no walks from his shelter kennel, once out, he is well behaved and great with other large dogs he met at the shelter and volunteers. He needs time to warm up and feel safe, then cooperative loves treats, and is lovable. Smart and gorgeous.  Max did great during his transport car ride, but once at a new place, he was nervous and confused.  Did take treats.  Once he knows you, he will be your best friend and bodyguard. Max will need an experienced guardian and a home with a yard. For now, no kids. More info. to come as he relaxes and learns.

7/1/22: He is now doing great at his foster home with 2 other GSDs.  With time, he adjusted to new people at home.  He is still leary of of strangers.  Bonded to his foster mom.  Loves his walks/hikes, playing ball and relaxing at his foster home.

9/12/21: Sadly, when his potential foster home and her 2 GSDs, during their two meets, her female GSD did not work out with him. The female is less tolerant of new dogs and wants to be the top dog. Max did great with her male dog and social. He loves treats, snuggled, being petted and enjoyed the attention. Need basic leash training. Poor Max will continue to board until we can find him an experienced foster home that will give him time to warm up and feel safe.

Max is boarding until we can find him an experienced and dedicated foster home.  Donations needed to help pay for his boarding.  To date since 10/20/21 over $4,000.

10/1/21: Our volunteers are visiting Max and taking him out for walks and play yard. Doing great and friendly with 2nd visit with female and male, with yummy treats and turkey hot dogs. Neena (was Tootsie) was at a distant and very crowded shelter for a long time and her time was running out. When volunteers took her out she was friendly and great with all the dogs on leash and in dog play groups (off leash). Did great with transporter. She is very skinny and needs to put on weight. Once out at her foster home on 11/17/21, she was nervous but warmed up fast to her foster home, but not to their female husky. She was guarding and reactive to their dog at home. Got into a few dog fights. They are keeping them separate and giving her time to adjust. 

11/28/21 Update: Took about a week, but Neena is now doing fine at her foster home and with their other female dog. She is the top dog at their home. They love their walks and hanging out. They do feed in seperate areas. She still need more basic and leash training.

1/12/22 Update: Still working on leash training to teach her to stop pulling and not be so excited when seeing other dogs while on walks.

3/28/22 Update: Foster hasn't attempted to test Neena with cats, however they can see Neena has a strong prey drive so if the cat runs it is expected Neena would chase.   She is now great with foster home's female husky.

Noah was found in the streets by one of our foster homes. He was probably hit by a car and left to die on the streets. Noah was laying in the streets and injured for 2 days before our volunteer helped him. Our foster home took him in and rushed him to our vets. Poor Noah was skinny, sick with URI, broken pelvic and tail. Despite all his injuries and pain, he still purred when he was being handled. With vet care and TLC, he is now healthy, but will need his orthopedic hip & tail surgery soon. We need to raise funds for his surgeries which will cost over $3,000. Christmas family. Adorable Charity, Noelle and Jingle, were dumped in the back of a store. So much for the Christmas spirit of kindness. They were cold, covered in dirt and nervous and the shelter took them in. We rescued them from the distant shelter. The two females are more out-going. Noelle seems to be the top puppy. Both are doing great, got baths, lovable, playful and now very happy at their foster home. More info. to come as they grow and learn. Pups are not available til after 8 weeks old and they get their vet care. They most likely will grow up to be large adults. Best they get a home with a fenced backyard and active guardian for daily long walks and exercise.

Update: Both pups are doing great at their foster home. Noelle needs a new experienced foster home due to long vacations. Learning quick.  Smart and playful. Both are learning to go out to yard for potty time and learning to take turns for attention. Both are friendly and social. Been meeting many new people who visit during the Christmas break. They are curious of new sounds and sights, and comfortable. Smart pups. Need experienced guardian. Her personality (sensitive) and some body structure/movement has some Great Dane mix qualities but she is not as large. She needs time to warm up to new people and then affectionate.  Well behaved at home. Loves going on walks and hikes. Loves playing ball. Once she meets a dog, she wants to play. Noelle is too nervous to live with young children.

Pixel (DOB 3/28/12) is about as big of a purr machine as his brother, Chip. He loves getting attention from people and being noticed. He and his brother, Chip, were found living in a company parking garage. Although well-fed and healthy, the one thing they lacked was human companionship and socialization. Now in their foster home, they're learning all about the benefits of lap-sitting, petting, laser light playing, and overall adoration from humans. Thanksgiving litter. 🍁GSD mix

Adorable Thanksgiving litter. We rescued these 4 under-age pups out of litter of 13 puppies (only 5 weeks old) from a super over crowded distant shelter on 11/9/24. Someone dumped them all without their mom on 11/4/24 and they were running out of options with no cage space and the shelter cannot care for young pups. All the pups were scared and huddled together at the shelter. Once in their foster home, they relaxed and are doing great. They love attention and cuddling. All love their slurry mix food, warm bed and playtime at their foster home’s yard for some sunshine. Now they will get to enjoy Thanksgiving in a warm and loving home while they learn. 1/22/25 Update: Puppies have lots of energy and are very gentle, social and loving. Eager to learn. Pumpkin is more independent than Tater. Loves other dogs, loves to cuddle. They love each other and our dog Tony and cat Mindy. They like to go for walks. They sit down if you ask them.

Reggie is a very sweet and affectionate 10-year-old neutered Miniature Schnauzer and Poodle mix. He is a gentleman who loves to cuddle and thrives on human connection. He's also quite the character—he's a master at stealing treats from the other dogs in the house and has one cherished toy, a bear named Willy, that he absolutely adores. He loves being dressed up in doggie pajamas and sticking his head out the window during car rides. He does well with children and enjoys being around people, sometimes even more than other dogs! His daily routine includes a quick potty break in the morning, afternoon, and a nightly walk.

While he gets along great with other dogs after a proper introduction, his ideal home must be free of cats, chickens, and other small animals due to a high prey drive. The main reason for his rehoming is because of his behavior around small animals, which his current household is full of. He also needs a patient owner who can spend time keeping him company or who has other doggos to keep him company while gone. Reggie is up-to-date on all his vaccinations and needs a calm home that is free of small animals, and a person who can give him lots of love and attention.

Riley was on the SASA PTS list Sat. 5/13/24, at 4:30 pm, so we tagged him to save his life. He was a shelter staff favorite.  

Riley is a super sweetie dog and people friendly once he meets.   He loves to play then calms and lounges.  He loves hanging out and playing with other dogs.  He has learned basic training and easy to train. He's a pleaser.  He already has learned to sit and wait for treats, only gently taking the treat after the release command.   Riley is very pretty and unique with one blue eye.  Donations are appreciated to help us pay for his emergency boarding until we find him a foster home.

2/14/25 update.  Riley is finally in a foster home.  Doing great and loves following their other dogs.  He loves parks and going hiking.  He would do best in a home with another dog buddy but doing fine in a foster home now as only dog that has WFH guardian.  When they first took him in, he was very nervous and timid but once comfortable, he feels safe and lovable. Lyle did great at our showcase events with other dogs around. Now he is learning, happy and healthy. His coat is better and softer. Eating healthier and fresh foods which makes a huge difference. He is house trained and crate trained.

A kind person saved him when he was left in a box at a parking lot. From an accidental litter due to parents not being sp/n. They work full time and contacted us to take him in. He got his first vet care and now learning at his foster home and puppy trainer.

Cutie Robin, size of Malamute, is very sweet, friendly and loves playing with other pups. Doing great and cuddly. Robin loves to follow his person around. He is enjoying his healthy foods and treats. Need husky experienced guardian and home with fenced yard.  We have tried different high quality and holistic foods (kibble and can) but he has a sensitive GI and got loose stools.  He had a stool sample test and negative.  He does best eating Raw diet mix or food with no wheat or legume.  No runny stools when he eats raw diet.  

Update: Robin is now eating freeze dried raw and trying different foods. He has gone to training classes and great with everyone. Lovable. Great with other nice dogs. Robin loves going out for hikes and long walks.

His DNA test is a mix of many breed types.  Mostly Husky, Cattle dog and Terrier.  What a unique mix!

1/27/25: Urgent.  Romeo needs a new foster home or foster to adoption home.  His adopter from March 2021, have a toddler that Romeo is fearful of and now they are expecting a 2nd baby and move to a new house.  Romeo needs a adult home and older kids are fine.  He loves his walks and lounging at home with his family.  Sad they need to rehome him after almost 4 years.  They do not want to keep him sep with baby gate since he wants to be near them.  

8/5/24 Poor Romeo now needs a new adult forever home.  His current home adopted him March 2021, but they now they have a new baby that is crawling.  Romeo did well with new baby-dog training with a trainer, but recently he guarded his toy from the toddler when she tried to pick up.  He did a correction nip to her heel but no injury.  He was correcting her like another dog.  The couple have set up baby gates and following the trainer's tips, but feel it would best if he can be rehomed to adult or older kid home.  He loves his daily walks.  Prefers to be the only dog at home.  Romeo has been thru training.  Been eating healthy fresh food mix to his kibble.  Up to date with his annual vet care.

4/5/25 Romeo (Koji) is boarding with a trainer.  He bonds to person and loves petting and being brushed.  He wants to follow and be with the person.  He can climb a 8 ft chain link fence, in just a minute or so if left alone. He will try to do this to follow person.  Prefer to be inside home with person and be your BFF.

Original updates from 2021 below:

We rescued Romeo from a distant shelter. He was found with metal cable line tied to his collar. He is Sandy's brother who we rescued last week. Romeo arrived at the shelter days later. The shelter was closed Friday to Monday, so he was very happy to get out of his kennel on 2/16/21.

He is very friendly, wiggly happy, and a sweetie. Was calm riding in the car with a car safety harness. Great with other dogs. He did great at his vet exam. Like Sandy, everyone adores him.

Romeo is already doing great at his foster home with another dog at home. Loved his long walk. His foster home is active and will hike/jog him daily for 3-5 miles. Romeo will love healthy foods/treats, home training, dog friends, daily exercise and TLC.

We are not sure of his breed mix, but has both Husky and Jindo qualities. Romeo has a fluffy tail and very soft coat. Romeo will not be ready for about 2 weeks or more while he settles at his foster home and we try to line up his neuter surgery. He will need an experienced and active guardian.  No cats since he does want to chase cats on walks.  

Romeo has adjusted quickly to his foster home. He is very loving and full of energy.. He will definitely need an active family and daily exercise. We are working on fetch and he’s almost got it down! Loves squeaky toys and tennis balls. He loves to give cuddles and is a very sweet boy. Sometimes he can be a bit unaware of his own size and strength, but he is still young. He needs a lot of training to be a better walker. The pulling on walks can be an issue but nothing proper training can’t solve. We are working on potty training. Once he gets neutered, that will help with the marking problem. He most likely would not do well in a home with younger children because he is a bit clumsy, and still does the puppy biting thing (Understandable because he is still young). No children under 10 years. Despite his size, Romeo is a really good lap dog who loves belly rubs and cuddles. He does just fine with other dogs of all sizes. As far as cats, he seems triggered by cats on our walks. I don’t know how he would do in a home with a cat. He sleeps comfortably in the crate at night, and doesn't seem to mind it.

Snowy was rescued on 9/29/14 from a Santa Clara County shelter. Snowy is a very gentle and sweet dog. Very affectionate and does great with other dogs. He is recovering from severe neglect where he lived his life outside. Due to his severe matting he ended up having many open skin wounds which are now healing. He is undergoing extensive rehab, learning to live inside a house.

Update Oct 2014: Snowy is doing fantastic in his foster home. As the foster home states, "he is the perfect dog!" He does great with their dog and all family members. He enjoys going on walks and hikes. Since being in his foster home, we have discovered that Snowy may have a neurological/behavioral issue. He seems to be unaware of when he needs to go to the bathroom. He tends to soil himself without realizing it. Snowy was examined by a vet and all tests seemed to show no neurological issues. Instead the vet thought his issue was more behavioral, however there is no way to be 100% certain. The foster home has him wear diapers and it works great. Snowy will need that special person willing to take him as he is and boy will his forever home get so much more in return. He is just a love bug, loves being around people and especially loves to snuggle and be held. He is one of those dogs that has been through so much he now deserves his forever loving home.

Snowy is a Sanctuary Dog. Donations appreciated for his supplies (diaper/pads) & constant vet care needs (tests, x-rays, medications).

We rescued Summer from a shelter where she was very scared and hiding in her crate. She was interested in a small dog that gently tried to make friends with her but didn’t come out of her crate at the shelter play yard. She was snappy and fearful. After a week they were able to wrap her with towel and vaccinate her. Finally relaxed when picked up. At her transporter and temp foster home she started to relax. Loves chicken slices. Perked up when she saw their pom. After couple of hours, she enjoyed lap time and gives kisses. Did fine on leash for potty break. Complete turn around. She was still a little skittish and will run back into her crate. She needs time to learn that she is safe with extra TLC in a home. Summer is precious. For now, quiet routine in adult home with another dog. No kids. More info to come.

UPDATE:  She has warmed up and did great with first foster home and transporter.  Loves chicken slices and came out of crate when she saw their pom.  Then enjoyed lap time and affectioante.  Now doing great at her foster home with 2 small dogs. Loves her daily walks and going out to yard.  Eating well.  Loves laps and giving kisses.  She is precious and loves attention.

Sugarplum's 7 pups were born 12/15/24. 3 males and 4 females.
