This Animal is PENDING ADOPTION.

Shannon 07-4111

Shannon was first spotted frantically trying to cross a busy street.  His rescuers watched helplessly as he dodged in and out of traffic--desperate, terrified, and completely disoriented.  He didn't know where he was, as if he had been abandoned.  After nearly getting hit by cars multiple times, he tried climbing up inside one's engine.  But when it sped down the street (as the driver had no idea he was there), he was thrown back onto the pavement. How its tires missed him was beyond luck.  And how the next car's tires missed him was beyond even more unimaginable luck. The driver of that car stopped to make sure that she hadn't hit him as he finally darted into and hid inside a huge warehouse off of the street.  And when an employee was kind enough to allow the volunteers to set up a humane trap inside the building, he was rescued at last.  So it only seemed appropriate to name this kitten after that very kind young man whose name was Shannon.

The good news didn't stop there.  Would little kitten, Shannon, be friendly enough for adoption?  You bet!  Scared as he was, he meowed to and approached his rescuers, as if trying to encourage them to pet his little head.  And then his purr motor wouldn't stop as he rubbed up against them trying to make up for however much time he had been without humans.  Had they ended up making their left turn into traffic a couple of minutes sooner or later, they might never have witnessed this little guy's plight.  And now this polydactyl kitten with unusual orange/light brown highlights on otherwise solid gray coloring gets to find some humans to love and be loved by.  He's got extra toes, extra coloring, and even extra sweetness to go along with his looks.

He will soon be showcasing at the Fremont Pet Food Express on Saturday afternoons.  And a big thanks to all the pedestrians, drivers, and warehouse workers who helped make this rescue possible!  Whew!!!!!!!!!!
