Liam D5122

Liam was rescued from a crowded shelter where he was nervous. Once out he warms up and is gentle & friendly.  Poor Liam suffered for years in pain with no proper vet care and badly neglected (left outside, skinny, badly matted) before he was dumped at a city shelter. Liam had severe dental decay with infections which required major severe dental surgery with x-rays, biopsy and 14 infected/rotten decayed teeth extracts. The infections was so bad it caused two holes (oronasal fistulas) on the roof of his mouth, to his nasal cavity (causing food & water to travel to his nasal area so he cannot eat properly). The hole required additional repair surgery.  Huge thanks to his great foster home for all their TLC and driving him back/forth to the vet for all his vet needs.  Update 9/10/15: Liam is doing great and very happy, sweet & friendly. The two holes on the roof his mouth to his nasal cavity has not healed since his major dental surgery. FFR has taken care of all his needs which is very costly.  Vet bills are over $2,000. Donations greatly needed & appreciated to help Liam!

10/28/15: He saw the Dog Oral Specialist. $1200, xray & biopsy. Awaiting biopsy. No bone in room, diseased roof tissue. Repair might not be possible. Awaiting test results. Donations needed to help cover his $3,200 vet bills so far.

1/25/16 update:
Unfortunately, all of Liam's tests, cultures and his biopsy came back negative (meaning, no info) from two local specialists and the UC Davis specialists. One specialist suggested that is is perhaps an auto-immune illness (though blood test does not show anything) for the holes on the roof of his mouth (caused by his horrible neglected mouth/teeth infections when he was dumped). So, now Liam is on steroids help him. Donations to help us with Liam's vet expenses are greatly needed and appreciated.  His vet bills are now over  $13,000+.

Update from his Foster Home: Liam is doing very well with the steroid treatment. The holes in his mouth have stabilized and do not seem to be getting bigger. He now only needs to see the vet and get a blood test once a year. He is able to eat regular kibble and Primal raw food nuggets. Liam takes his steroid pills every other day with his food with no problems. Because of the holes in his mouth, he prefers to drink water from a bottle (water bottles that small pets like rabbits drink from) than from a water bowl. He is a happy and sweet dog that loves his walks, car rides, and cuddling. Liam needs an experienced adult home. Miracle Club
