Angelo 07-3414

Angelo 07-3414 Gender: Male

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

Age: 12 years
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Hi! I was rescued when I was a teenager and due to my medical condition, I am a sanctuary cat at my kind foster home. I can be a busy boy. Love to tackle your hand yet usually you don't get scratched, I may act rough but am really a gentleman. Like to take my toys into the bathtub and run around; will "help" with mopping, sweeping, making beds, and will want to help you brush your teeth. Love to cuddle under your chin while you watch TV. I am Adorable and charming and want to be your best friend forever. Great with other indoor cats.   Full of personality and life.  He loves to play with his toys in the bathtub, and play fetch (actually brings the toy back to me)!

Angelo had been to a specialist and got confirmation of a Progressive Restrictive Cardiomyopathy and mild non-progressive cardiomyopathy.  The vet could not give us any idea if and when his heart would start giving him difficulties. Vet did state that someday when it does act up there are meds that will help for awhile.  Angelo will live out his life in his loving FFR foster home. .

Breed: Domestic Mediumhair

Age: 2 years 2 months

My name is Biscotti, which is Italian for twice-cooked. I am a lovely medium haired orange tabby. I'm a lovable scamp, which is probably how I got into this position. See, I was brought to the shelter because I was limping. I was still mobile, but a little slower than most. Turns out I have an old fracture that didn't heal properly, so it's a good thing I came here. The shelter is going to help me be the best that I can be, hopefully a home will love me just the way I am (after I get fixed...in more ways than one)

Blitzen D6525

Blitzen D6525 Gender: Male

Breed: Cattle Dog

Size: 22

Age: 8 months 1 week
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue
Hi, I need a temporary foster home while I wait to be adopted. Will you please foster me?

Blitzen and his sibling, Dancer, were rescued from a sad situation. He is adorable, curious, lovable and needs basic puppy training/socialization.  His brother DNA tested, 100% Australian Cattle Dog.

Update from his foster home: Blitzen is doing very well at his hero foster home. He is very sweet, active, social and playful with their dogs. Blitzen is curious, confident and very smart. He loves following his people around, learning home life and handling/cuddling. Blitzen will need a home with yard and experienced guardian with knowledge of cattle dog needs. He will be active and may need dog sport training. Soon he will go to puppy socials. Blitzen complains about being put in a crate – so if he is traveling in a crate, he will complain for a while – about 10 minutes. House-training is going well and he knows to use doggy door.

Update 12/25/18: Blitzen is now showing genetic impairment of deafness and possible vision. Per his foster home and brief exam with a vet. He seems to be deaf – noises do not attract his attention. There may be some frequencies that he can hear. We are waiting to take him for further testing. Also there are “stars” in his eyes, something that happens in the womb as the membranes are forming over the eyes. This is apparently not correctable and usually means that there is some impairment of his vision. The foster home feels he sees pretty well. He is hesitant around unfamiliar steps - and unfamiliar things, as though he's not seeing well enough to move forward confidently. Sometimes, if when holding something out for him, she have to wiggle it to get him to notice. They haven't pinned down if there are areas that he sees better or not but he sees well enough to run in the backyard, go on walks, play with toys, get water and food.  His brother's DNA test, shows pure Australian Cattle Dog.

Calypso D4303 (was D5137 Gender: Male

Breed: Terrier / Cairn Terrier Mix

Size: 15

Age: 9 years
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue
Hi, I need a temporary foster home while I wait to be adopted. Will you please foster me?

Calypso was adopted from us July 2015, but his previous adopters just took him to the shelter on 4/3/19, vs contacting us.  They stated due to move.  We take all our dogs back for life. We will post his current photo soon.  He is friendly with shelter staff.   Everyone adores him.  At our vet exam, he has a golf ball size lump hanging from his left leg hock which we had removed and he needed dental with extractions.   Need donations to help cover his surgery bills.  $1,200.  5/1/19:  He is doing great at his hero foster home with another dog.  Calpyso is now healthy, happy and playful with their dog.   He is adorable.   New photo to come.

Original post when we first rescued him:  Calypso was rescued on 6/1/15 from a shelter. He is friendly and good with other dogs. He had his dental and now feeling much happier. Getting healthy with holistic quality food and treats. Charming Calypso loves his toys (tosses around), daily walks & playing with other dogs! He is friendly, active, agile and affectionate. For his happiness, he would love another dog at home, someone around more, daily exercise (active person for walks/hikes) and holistic healthy food! Calypso can jump up to a table, so he needs supervision. He was groomed and now feels great!

5/8/19 update from his foster home: Calypso is doing great in his foster home. He has recovered remarkably from his surgeries. He loves his playmate, Sophie, a Jack Russell, and plays very well with her. He has been introduced to neighboring dogs and was very good with them. He’s a sweet boy with a very tender loving disposition. He does love to eat, snuggle and play. He listens well and is very social. He has manners, but if there’s food around he tends to forget (very treat motivated). He had some separation anxiety the first few days, but now he knows the routine of his foster home and he realizes they’re not abandoning him. He is house trained. Loves to be outside, a lot. He would do well with an adult, kids 12 yrs+,  home that will walk him daily, have a backyard for him to explore and chase squirrels and can give him lots of love. Calypso is a very sweet dog that deserves a forever loving home.

Chaos (GA)

Breed: Chihuahua Mix

Size: 9

Age: 13 years 1 month
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Chaos is a 13-year-old, 9 pound Chihuahua mix. He is friendly and loves to be petted or 'scratched'. His temperament is mostly quiet with occasional bursts of energy when he is happiest. He loves to wander and explore the outside or inside, sniffing out the latest smells. He is house trained but needs attention to his outdoor needs due to his age. Chaos is a rescue dog that was originally abandoned in the rain, although he doesn't mind going out in the rain so much. Because of his chaotic past, he does not respond well to loud screaming or yelling but rather gentle reinforcement or encouragement. Chaos has a younger sister named Maybe, and wants to be adopted with her so they can be together in his less active years… although he still plays with her at times. They have been together for seven years.

Chip 05-3853

Chip 05-3853 Gender: Male

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

Age: 7 years 2 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Chip (DOB 3/28/12) is one big non-stop purr machine. He can't help but love getting little kitty massages over his whole body. He and his brother, Pixel, were found living in a company parking garage. Although well-fed and healthy, the one thing they lacked was human companionship and socialization. Now in their foster home, they're learning all about the benefits of lap-sitting, petting, laser light playing, and overall adoration from humans. Since they are bonded, it's best for them to be adopted together as a pair. Although still a bit skittish, they are well on their way in transition from two healthy feral kittens to two healthy, active, and friendly in-your-face kittens. They just need a little more patience and understanding to complete their journey. Chip and Pixel will be showcasing every Saturday and Sunday at the Fremont Petco from 1-4. Come meet them and give them the attention and little kitty massages they crave.

PENDING ADOPTION

Gender: Female

Breed: Chihuahua

Size: 8

Age: 2 years 8 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Cookie was very pregnant and about to give birth at the shelter. She had no options left so we took her in. She was a shelter favorite and everyone adored her super sweet personality. Cookie loves people and giving kisses. She gave birth to her single puppy but sadly Cookie's pup died after about 10 days. Foster home is giving Cookie extra love and attention to get her through this loss.

Update from foster home: Cookie gets along with my other dogs, but tries to dominate them and gets protective of me. She may be best as only dog. She is extremely responsive to commands and is quick to learn and understand boundaries. Also, she does not do well in a crate, cries a ton, pretty much a bed sleeper. About 90% house-trained.

11/7/18:  Poor Cookie.  She was spayed and had her dental with 9 decaying tooth extractions!  She is now resting and healing.  Soon, she will feel so much better.

Daisy D5084

Daisy D5084 Gender: Female

Breed: Chihuahua (Long Haired) Mix

Size: 10

Age: 7 years
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Daisy was adopted but due to her guardian's declining elder health and lack of funds for vet care, she returned Daisy due to her diagnosis of diabetes (need more vet care, tests, and medications), she was returned back to us. Daisy was very sick in Dec. 2017 and her foster home rushed her to emergency for hospital care. Poor Daisy had 3 days of IV and hospital care to save her. She is now a Sanctuary Dog at her hero foster home. Daisy now needs twice daily doses of injected insulin and periodic blood/urine/lab tests and needs to be monitoring for the rest of her life. So far her vet costs exceed $1,300.00 which her foster home covered. They are her angels and heroes to care for her and all her medical needs.

We took in Daisy last minute from a very crowded shelter on 10/28/14. She is very sweet and friendly. Great with other dogs and easy going. Daisy was covered with fleas and treated/bathed. She has bad teeth and will get her dental on Monday. Meanwhile, she is now relaxing at her wonderful foster home and getting TLC.

Ezekiel (Zeke)

Ezekiel (Zeke) Gender: Male

Breed: Maltese Mix

Size: 6

Age: 3 years 6 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue
Hi, I need a temporary foster home while I wait to be adopted. Will you please foster me?

7/20/2018: Update from foster home: Zeke has come along way. When we got him he was so starved you could feel his ribs and hip bones. It's taken him a long time to trust, but with his abusive last home, that is what is expected. Loves his little squeaky toys (doesn't squeak them), just loves to carry around the house and when done carries them inside his kennel. Kind of a little toy hoarder. He also loves playing with his foster home's little female dog. Very adorable personality. Zeke would be great in a home as an only dog or with another small female companion. He would do best in a home with one person, preferable; female, since the male was the abuser in his last household. Ezekiel needs to learn that he is safe and feels loved. He will need an experienced, one person, adult-only home. NO KIDS since he may nip. Zeke also tries to guard his master. This will take an experienced home that knows to put Zeke away when he exhibits this behavior - most commonly when visitors come to house. He is content being somewhere by himself when guests are visiting. He prefers quiet routine walks around neighborhood. He is fearful at strange and busy places. We are looking for a new home with someone that is willing to work with him in the situations he is fearful of; public, etc.

Frankie D2682

Frankie D2682 Gender: Female

Breed: Pit Bull Terrier

Size: 40

Age: 10 years
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue
Hi, I need a temporary foster home while I wait to be adopted. Will you please foster me?

Frankie came into FFR on 6/8/11 for our help to find her a new adoption home. Frankie is a very special dog. She comes from an abusive past and has flourished despite her past treatment.  She is very curious yet cautious of new experiences.  She does have high prey drive to other dogs and needs to be on leash at all times for control outside of her home.  She has learned to play with toys and sleep in her crate.  She is very smart and tries to avoid when she knows it’s time to do something she doesn’t want to do, so we are working on her obedience manners.  Frankie hasn’t had a lot of attention in her short life, so she is very reluctant to let you stop petting her.  With supervision, she ignored the foster home's cat & fine with same size male dog. Frankie needs a very experienced pack leader guardian to train her. Adult home. No kids.

**If you can't give her a home, but can donate to help with her boarding care and training, we greatly appreciate it.  Please be sure to note that your donation is for Frankie.

Update: Frankie is doing great at her trainer/boarding home. She went out for a social walk at a park and streets, and she was great meeting new people. She ignored other barking dogs but did bark at dogs at a store. She needs a forever very experienced home.  Best as the only dog to continue her training.  We are paying for her boarding with a trainer/boarding home.

Breed: Miniature Schnauzer

Size: 8

Age: 6 years 4 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Frodo was rescued from a shelter. He was nervous and timid at the shelter, but once out, he warmed up, he is gentle friendly.  Frodo was unhealthy, thin and sick.  He had blood in his urine and severe dental needs. We took him to our vet for all his lab tests, x-rays and surgeries. Turned out he could have died from a large bladder stone blockage and infected swollen prostate. Poor Frodo suffered for years in pain with no vet care. He needed antibiotic for his infection and surgeries to remove a marble-sized bladder stone (analysis revealed Struvite Stones), exploratory surgery for one testicle in his abdominal (large incision), dental, extractions of many rotten teeth, and treatment for his swollen prostate (infection).  Frodo's surgeries were successful.  After months of TLC and vet follow up, he is now healed from all his surgeries and very loved.  He is eating holistic/fresh foods (home cooked/fresh) with more moisture.  Frodo enjoys his daily walks, hikes, playing ball, meeting other dogs, having someone home, and lap/sofa time.  He is very sweet, spunky and playful.  Frodo needs a home with someone around every few hours with a backyard so he can urinate as needed.  Bladder stone issues usually are caused from poor diet and dogs that have to hold it too long and can't relieve themselves for long hours. Frodo is a tiny small dog so he is early middle age.  He is social and loves long walks/hikes.

We appreciate and greatly need donations to pay for all his vet care, which cost us $3,140.00 Miracle Club doggie.

Jon Snow was nervous, scared and shy at the shelter (hiding in back of cage). He was neglected, under-socialized and matted (shaggy long coat). After a few days, he slowly warmed up and was fine being picked up and enjoyed lap time. He is good other dogs. Not leash trained. Our vet office brushed, shaved his matts and gave him a bath. Jon Snow is doing well at his hero foster home with another sweet dog. Nervous but very sweet. He is learning he is safe.

Update from foster home: He is house-trained but he is a very nervous dog so he has to feel comfortable enough that we won't leave him before he will actually go out to do his business. So it is important to work with him on this or he will still have accidents. He needs someone home more. He has made remarkable progess on his nervousness since he came to us. He now plays with my little terrier mix, he has learnt how to walk on leash. He is extremely smart, and quite the escape artist. He has become much better at least with our family, although he is still nervous of strangers. We feel like he will keep getting better with time. He will do better with another dog in the home. He barks when we leave him alone and go out, and when we come back home (in excitement). But he doesn’t bark all day like some little dogs do. I haven’t really seen him chew on too many things yet. He doesn’t seem to shed a great deal, but he does shed a normal amount.

Katniss Gender: Female

Breed: German Shepherd

Size: 60

Age: 2 years 3 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue
Hi, I need a temporary foster home while I wait to be adopted. Will you please foster me?

She is very friendly and active. Good with other dogs but can be dog dominate with some dogs.  Katniss needs a very experienced guardian to guide and continue her training. She had a mild ear infection which was treated and she is fine now.  Needs experienced guardian for training and exercise.  She is doing well but now needs a home for one on one training.  She is dominate with some dogs and playful with others at doggie day care.  Katniss would be a great best friend and hiking buddy!

KENAI - ID#A155844

KENAI - ID#A155844 Gender: Male

Breed: Siberian Husky

Age: 1 year 5 months
Listed By: Tri-City Animal Shelter

My name is KENAI.

I am a neutered male, black and white Siberian Husky.

The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 1 month old.

Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:

Meet Kenai. He is a 1 year old Siberian Husky. Kenai can be a shy boy especially when it comes to meeting human males. Due to his behavioral history, Kenai would prefer a home with females that are home a lot, work from home or are retired. Home with previous Husky experience is a must. Kenai can be a little bit of an escape artist so a 100% secure back yard is required. He gets easily spooked by people, noises and things he doesn't know so he needs a handler who can control him and calm him down when he gets scared. Kenai gets along with other animals but he is known to get jealous when attention is given to anyone else but him so for everyone's wellbeing - home without other pets is preferred. Please speak to shelter front staff if you think you're up for a challenge and could give Kenai a good home.

Kerry

Kerry Gender: Female

Breed: Spaniel Mix

Size: 11

Age: 6 months 2 weeks
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Poor Kerry was very scared and nervous at the shelter. She is under-socialized and untrained. She will not walk on a leash, but with a slow greeting, she warms up to be held and pet. At the shelter, she had a mild infection which was treated, and she is now fine. She was good meeting other dogs which helps her feel safe. Kerry was nervous at our vet office but allowed all handling. Quiet, she is now relaxing at her hero foster home and is doing well. Not as shy anymore, Kerry is playing with their dogs and lovable.

Update from her foster home: Kerry follows and plays with their other dogs so they feel strongly she needs another dog at home for her happiness.  Alone, she is nervous.

Kirby D6711

Kirby D6711 Gender: Male

Breed: Miniature Schnauzer / Cairn Terrier Mix

Size: 12

Age: 6 years
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Sweetie Kirby was timid at the shelter but warms up. He got all his vet care and is now relaxing at his foster home. At home he is now a wiggly, busy body, curious, friendly, and happy little guy. He is very thin and will need to put on some weight. More info. to come as he learns and relaxes.

From Foster Home: Very active boy. He is so exuberant that he jumps up to get to people. Not throwing his weight against you, just jumping to get your attention. It is so much his personality that I don't hold out much hope for training it out of him. No cats, will chase.  House-training is still in progress.

Kirby is very active. We are looking for a home for him where someone is home more with another small dog playmate.

Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:

Kiwi is a young adult Beagle mix. She is very friendly and affectionate with people and she is trying to initiate play with every dog that she meets. You might notice some shaved her on side of her face…Kiwi came to us with a large wound on her face but a vet fixed her up and whatever happened to her hasn't impacted her friendly personality. And once the hair grows back in you won't even see the scar. Come meet Kiwi and let her charm you with her happy-go-lucky attitude

Lassie D6603

Lassie D6603 Gender: Female

Breed: German Shepherd / Collie Mix

Size: 62

Age: 4 years 3 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

We rescued her and her puppies from a shelter. Lassie was a stray and found hiding under a car in Oakland. She was taken to the shelter, where she was nervous, sad and shut down. She would not walk on the leash and pancakes down. Poor Lassie is missing her front lower teeth and both her lower canines are grounded down. She was probably locked in a cage for years and chewed on the bars. Lassie gave birth to her 6 puppies on 2/19/19 at the shelter. She was nervous for first few days and would hunker down to the floor on leash. Despite nursing her pups with all the shelter noise, she warmed up to staff.

Lassie loves treats and very gentle sweet. She is a loving mom caring for her pups and allows staff to pet and handle. Lassie is now resting and caring for her pups at her hero foster home. She is now very happy and very sweet. Lassie just needs time to feel safe with her pups and get healthy. Soon, she will be very healthy, happy and thrive at her foster home with her babies. Lassie is beautiful and so sweet.

She hasn't met cats while in her foster home so we don't know how she is with cats. She seems to be fine with other dogs but it is tough to know as she is still a mommy looking out for her pups. Seems mostly house-broken but as she is willing to spend more time away from pups the foster home will learn more about whether she is fully house-broken and how she is with other dogs. She definitely likes meeting new people.  More info. to come.

Update 3/25/19:  Lassie is a great mom and very patient with her pups, who are now over 5 weeks old.   Soon, in about 2-3 weeks, she needs a new foster home.  Her puppies now have teeth and licking slurry mix (Raw Goat's Milk, Honest Kitchen).   She will need a new foster home soon so her puppies don't continue to nurse on her with their sharp baby teeth.   Lassie needs a quiet routine experienced adult home to give her time to adjust, relax and learn.  She is not comfortable yet on leash for walks, and will pancake down.  Foster home is now working with her with walks in they yard and short walks out front.  She has met one dog, but ignores.  Lassie probably grew up and lived in a backyard so she was not trained, walked nor socialized.  She is super sweet, gentle and loving.  Great with people.  She is fine meeting family dog that visits but to busy with her pups so not focused to play or engage with other dogs.

4/28/19:  Her pups are now grown up.  Lassie now needs her own foster home or forever home so she can rest, learn, heal and get TLC.  She is bonded to her current foster home and adopted puppy, Leon.  She finally felt happy and relaxed to play with her pups.  Lassie is now walking on leash for short walks and housetrained to go to foster home's backyard. She needs a very experienced home with someone around enough to help guide her and maybe another dog.  Alone, she is nervous and misses her foster home person and Leon.  She needs to sleep in bedroom or with another dog as she adjusts and trust her new people.  Lassie was neglected for years, so she need time to trust, bond and feel safe in a new home.  Usually takes about 2-3 weeks for a dog to feel at home, learn new routine and bond to new guardians.  She is a gentle sweetie, smart and sensitive.  Once she adjusts, she is easy going and calm.

Leia D4364

Leia D4364 Gender: Female

Breed: German Shepherd Mix

Size: 15

Age: 3 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Lassie's six puppies were born 2/19/19.  All are super healthy, social, friendly and adorable! 3 males and 3 females.

All are very playful, curious and have their mom's gentle personality. They love playing, exploring and running around at their foster home's backyard on nice days. They are quiet pups and sleep over night in their playpen and crate with their mom. All pups have been getting early socialization so they have the right start and very socialized puppies. Lassie, mom:  https://www.furryfriendsrescue.org/find_a_pet/view/35862

Puppies were licking slurry mix of Honest Kitchen, goat's milk, holistic blends and meats. Teething on chews, carrots & Kongs.

They will grow to be large dogs like their mom, about 60 lbs. or more.  They all love going out in their foster home's backyard for potty biz, naps/lounge, exploring, running and playing.

5/1/19 update from Foster Home: Leia is a ball of sunshine who is a darling. She has a soft medium length tan & black coat that you want to just pet. She loves to give endless puppy kisses, and be around you all of the time.  She is one of Lassie’s puppies, and has her mother’s sweet nature and loving personality. With proper training, this breed of dog make great family pets, good with children, and love an active lifestyle of walking, fetching, jogging and hiking. These pups in particular seem to be very smart, learning the doggie door immediately, going potty outside, and are already chasing a ball. They would probably love to learn tricks and do agility training too. We think Leia will be perhaps 60 pounds when full grown, but with rescues we never know for sure. She is ready to go to her forever home, so you would have the entire summer to bond with her. If you have been searching for just the right girl, Leia will bring sunshine into your life.

Liam D5122

Liam D5122 Gender: Male

Breed: Terrier / Yorkshire Terrier Mix

Size: 17

Age: 8 years 11 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Liam was rescued from a crowded shelter where he was nervous. Once out he warms up and is gentle & friendly.  Poor Liam suffered for years in pain with no proper vet care and badly neglected (left outside, skinny, badly matted) before he was dumped at a city shelter. Liam had severe dental decay with infections which required major severe dental surgery with x-rays, biopsy and 14 infected/rotten decayed teeth extracts. The infections was so bad it caused two holes (oronasal fistulas) on the roof of his mouth, to his nasal cavity (causing food & water to travel to his nasal area so he cannot eat properly). The hole required additional repair surgery.  Huge thanks to his great foster home for all their TLC and driving him back/forth to the vet for all his vet needs.  Update 9/10/15: Liam is doing great and very happy, sweet & friendly. The two holes on the roof his mouth to his nasal cavity has not healed since his major dental surgery. FFR has taken care of all his needs which is very costly.  Vet bills are over $2,000. Donations greatly needed & appreciated to help Liam!

10/28/15: He saw the Dog Oral Specialist. $1200, xray & biopsy. Awaiting biopsy. No bone in room, diseased roof tissue. Repair might not be possible. Awaiting test results. Donations needed to help cover his $3,200 vet bills so far.

1/25/16 update:
Unfortunately, all of Liam's tests, cultures and his biopsy came back negative (meaning, no info) from two local specialists and the UC Davis specialists. One specialist suggested that is is perhaps an auto-immune illness (though blood test does not show anything) for the holes on the roof of his mouth (caused by his horrible neglected mouth/teeth infections when he was dumped). So, now Liam is on steroids help him. Donations to help us with Liam's vet expenses are greatly needed and appreciated.  His vet bills are now over $9,000.

Update from his Foster Home: Liam is doing very well with the steroid treatment. The holes in his mouth have stabilized and do not seem to be getting bigger. He now only needs to see the vet and get a blood test once a year. He is able to eat regular kibble and Primal raw food nuggets. Liam takes his steroid pills every other day with his food with no problems. Because of the holes in his mouth, he prefers to drink water from a bottle (water bottles that small pets like rabbits drink from) than from a water bowl. He is a happy and sweet dog that loves his walks, car rides, and cuddling. Liam needs an experienced adult home. Miracle Club

Maggie D2246 Gender: Female

Breed: Lhasa Apso / Miniature Schnauzer Mix

Size: 31

Age: 13 years 10 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Sanctuary dog: Maggie and her son, Calvin, were rescued from Hayward Shelter on 8/20/08. Both were badly neglected. Maggie was never groomed and extremely matted. But after her bath & make-over grooming, she is now beautiful. She is friendly with people she trusts, then gentle, adorable and a sweetheart. Leary of strangers and will growl & nip. She did great at her two foster homes and was social, but months later, in a home, she became more fearful of strangers or new people who try to pet her head & learned to growl/nip to protect herself (insecure). She goes up to people for treats, but doesn't want to be petted unless she knows/trusts the person. Good on leash and sits for treats.

To protect Maggie, she is now a sanctuary dog with an FFR person whom she is bonded to. With person she bonds to she is very cooperative, easy-going and well behaved.

So far he has been good with their cat. Pippin is resting from his vet care and neuter surgery. Doing great! He sure loves his sofa time. Adorable!

Update from Foster Home: Pippin is a very sweet little guy. He's pretty much fully house-trained as long as you let him out 2-3 times/day. Pippin does great with their cats. Mostly he ignores them. They jump on the bed or couch next to him and he doesn't even move. He does try to eat cat food if he gets the chance. He's pretty responsive when called. He does try to jump a lot, and he's a climber for such a little guy. Mostly he just wants to be as close to you as possible and always has his tail wagging. He likes to sleep under a blanket. Pippin goes to doggie day care so he is an easy-going cuddly dog when he gets home from his day of playing.

Pixel (DOB 3/28/12) is about as big of a purr machine as his brother, Chip. He loves getting attention from people and being noticed. He and his brother, Chip, were found living in a company parking garage.

Prima

Prima

PENDING ADOPTION

Gender: Female

Breed: Chihuahua / Terrier Mix

Size: 10

Age: 2 years
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Poor Prima was found dumped, tied to a fence and in a Amazon Prime box in front of someones home.

She was taken to the shelter and passed her stray hold.  She is very sweet and friendly.  Great with other dogs.

She had all her vet care and now resting at her hero foster home.   Foster home loves her.

Update from foster home: She is fine with cats if introduced properly. She is a snuggler but is also young so busy girl. She does great riding in car. She can bark at other dogs on walks but greets nicely on leash once she calms down. She pulls on leash a little, walks pretty well but needs more training. Friendly with goats and horses, listens around chickens and cats. Prima is pretty quiet but vocal when playing. She loves balls and toys but she is fairly delicate with her toys. She enjoys puzzle toys and chews. She is fine with kids. She enjoys jumping and climbing. She has had accidents occasionally if left too long so she needs more house-training and would need baby gates and structure to complete her training.

Reeses

Reeses Gender: Female

Breed: Spaniel Mix

Size: 15

Age: 10 months 2 weeks
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Reeses is one of the 3 puppies we rescued from a backyard home. Their 2 moms gave birth to 9 pups (accident from stray male dog). They all lived outside in their backyard kennel with dog run, had no training, no walks, under-socialized and no vet care. Moms look like spaniel mix, about 35 lbs. Dad was a stray dark color short leg dog. All 9 pups are friendly with their prior family (adults/teens), but out of their yard they are nervous, shy and under-socialized.

All the puppies got their vet exam, vaccinations, de-worm and ID chip. All are now relaxing and learning at their foster homes. She is very cute, gentle and warming up to her foster home with another dog. With time she will learn to go out for walks, indoor home life and go to puppy socials. She will need Puppy Training and continue socializing. More info. to come.

Update from foster home: Reeses needs a fenced in yard for potty biz.

My name is Rex.

I am male. Shelter staff believe I am a black and tan German Shepherd Dog.

The shelter staff think I am about 1 year old. I have been at the shelter since May 09, 2019

Staff made the following comments:
This is Rex. He is a young adult, German Shepherd. Rex is active and playful pup who still hasn't figured out how big he actually is. He needs some basic obedience training and he could benefit from losing a little weight. Otherwise Rex is a great dog that wants to be friends with everyone he meets, humans and dogs. Rex is looking for a home with previous working breed experience. Could it be you?

SALSERO - ID#A157907

SALSERO - ID#A157907 Gender: Male

Breed: Chihuahua

Age: 8 years
Listed By: Tri-City Animal Shelter

Hello everyone, this is Salsero! Salsero was unfortunately surrendered because his previous family didn't have the time to take care of him anymore. It has taken him awhile to acclimate to a new environment, but sure enough, we've sparked some energy into him! He might be a little slow to warm up to people, but once he gets to know you he doesn't want to leave your side. He likes to adventure as well and doesn't mind other dogs. We believe he'll be better off in a calm household, as it does take awhile for Salsero to get comfortable in a new setting. Salsero is a sweet little guy who's looking for a new happy home. Come and ask about him, he's waiting for you :)

Sammy D6526

Sammy D6526 Gender: Male

Breed: German Shepherd

Size: 80

Age: 3 years 10 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Sammy was adopted Aug. 2017, but now returning due to move and his fear of Thunder Storms and loud construction noise in TX.  When he was fostered and lived here in California, he was fine and normal happy dog.   He will return soon, and needs a experienced foster home.  He is great with other dogs.

We were Sammy's last hope at a super over-crowded shelter. He is friendly, craves gentle attention & takes treats gently. He has very expressive ears & beautiful tail feathers. Sammy seems like one of those boys that would follow you everywhere and is very polite. Dog friendly and very sweet. More info. to come as he relaxes in our foster home. UPDATE: Sammy is doing great at his foster home with another female GSD. They love playing and going for long walks. He is a love. Here is his shelter video by volunteers: https://youtu.be/eRHqIST_WIg

Update: He is now doing much better and not counter surfing. He loves playing with another dog at Red Rover Doggie Day Care and very active. Sammy would be happiest with another playful dog, unless the home can truly exercise and take him out for dog socials. He is well behaved for our car rides and on leash at our showcases. Sammy wants to bond to person and be your best friend!

Sammy needs someone around, home with yard, maybe another dog playmate or dog socials to play. He is active. Adult home. Kids 12 yrs+. Once he gets his daily exercise, he is very well behaved.  He is doing great at his foster home and sweetie!

Shannon 07-4111

Shannon 07-4111 Gender: Male

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

Size: 3

Age: 1 year
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Shannon was first spotted frantically trying to cross a busy street.  His rescuers watched helplessly as he dodged in and out of traffic--desperate, terrified, and completely disoriented.  He didn't know where he was, as if he had been abandoned.  After nearly getting hit by cars multiple times, he tried climbing up inside one's engine.  But when it sped down the street (as the driver had no idea he was there), he was thrown back onto the pavement. How its tires missed him was beyond luck.  And how the next car's tires missed him was beyond even more unimaginable luck. The driver of that car stopped to make sure that she hadn't hit him as he finally darted into and hid inside a huge warehouse off of the street.  And when an employee was kind enough to allow the volunteers to set up a humane trap inside the building, he was rescued at last.  So it only seemed appropriate to name this kitten after that very kind young man whose name was Shannon.

The good news didn't stop there.  Would little kitten, Shannon, be friendly enough for adoption?  You bet!  Scared as he was, he meowed to and approached his rescuers, as if trying to encourage them to pet his little head.  And then his purr motor wouldn't stop as he rubbed up against them trying to make up for however much time he had been without humans.  Had they ended up making their left turn into traffic a couple of minutes sooner or later, they might never have witnessed this little guy's plight.  And now this polydactyl kitten with unusual orange/light brown highlights on otherwise solid gray coloring gets to find some humans to love and be loved by.  He's got extra toes, extra coloring, and even extra sweetness to go along with his looks.

He will soon be showcasing at the Fremont Pet Food Express on Saturday afternoons.  And a big thanks to all the pedestrians, drivers, and warehouse workers who helped make this rescue possible!  Whew!!!!!!!!!!

Sherlock D5098

Sherlock D5098 Gender: Male

Breed: Lhasa Apso Mix

Size: 14

Age: 5 years
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Sherlock was rescued from a crowded shelter. He is smart, curious, confident and gorgeous. Super people friendly, alert, snuggly and loves attention but he needs a leader to guide him. He can get anxious and nervous (Llasa personality) and will nip if scared.   He does not like being pushed, carried or kissed.  No fast grabs. Head sensitive and will nip.  He is good with other small dogs with proper introductions on leash, but he wants to be the top dog (alpha) at home, especially with other male dogs. Sherlock is best as only dog in household.  Cannot coddle him and need guidance. No sofa space or he will guard his space.  He did well with other dogs during our testing and on walks, but not in home.  Loves walks and yard to go out for potty biz and sun.  He needs adult very experienced guardian only .Sherlock is sensitive and needs the guardian to be his leader with confidence (he will sense anxious/nervous person) and tell him what to do vs coddling (he will get confused). Guardian must be confident and guide him. He was leary and fearful of young kids (will nip). At home, he likes to follow person around but does not like his face petted and may nip if stressed. Sherlock needs access to fenced yard, no apt living. He needs daily exercise and someone home more or someone that can consistently give him a mid-day break. With our volunteers, he is friendly, walks well on leash and listens. Will snuggle in our laps (both women & men) when he trusts the person.

Sherlock wants to bond to confident person who will guide him and he will listen. Smart. At his foster home, we learned that Sherlock is very allergic to Dust Mites (in carpet). After many vet visits and holistic vets, he is now on raw diet only and herbs for his allergy. So he needs a home with no carpet to avoid dust mites. He needs experienced quiet adult home and NO KIDS.

Snowy D5051

Snowy D5051 Gender: Male

Breed: Miniature Poodle / Dachshund Mix

Size: 16

Age: 11 years 8 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Snowy was rescued on 9/29/14 from a Santa Clara County shelter. Snowy is a very gentle and sweet dog. Very affectionate and does great with other dogs. He is recovering from severe neglect where he lived his life outside. Due to his severe matting he ended up having many open skin wounds which are now healing. He is undergoing extensive rehab, learning to live inside a house.

FOSTER HOME UPDATE - 13 October 2014 Snowy is doing fantastic in his foster home. As the foster home states, "he is the perfect dog!" He does great with their dog and all family members. He enjoys going on walks and hikes. Since being in his foster home, we have discovered that Snowy may have a neurological/behavioral issue. He seems to be unaware of when he needs to go to the bathroom. He tends to soil himself without realizing it. Snowy was examined by a vet and all tests seemed to show no neurological issues. Instead the vet thought his issue was more behavioral, however there is no way to be 100% certain. The foster home has him wear diapers and it works great. Snowy will need that special person willing to take him as he is and boy will his forever home get so much more in return. He is just a love bug, loves being around people and especially loves to snuggle and be held. He is one of those dogs that has been through so much he now deserves his forever loving home.

Snowy is now a Sanctuary Dog. Donations appreciated for his supplies (diaper/pads) & vet care.

Please help us raise $4,000 for Snowy's recent emergency vet care, supplies and future medical needs.

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

Age: 13 years 5 months

Socks got his Christmas Miracle today! Poor Socks was dumped at a high kill shelter where he was about to be PTS (put to sleep). He was scared at the shelter. Huge thanks to his Hero Foster Home and Angel, he is now relaxing at her home. Socks is now friendly and loves being petted. Socks will rest and then go to our vet for Sr. Wellness tests and check his teeth. Usually neglected (poor diet & no vet care) adult to senior cats, always need dental and teeth extractions from decay. More info. come.

12/27/18 update:  Socks got all his vet care, sr. wellness tests and lab work.  Sadly, he is positive for FIV.  However, FIV cats can show no symptoms and live long lives.  Soon, he will have his dental care and most likely, extractions.  Donations greatly needed and appreciated to help Socks with all his vet care needs.

Titan D2027 Gender: Male

Breed: Belgian Tervuren Mix

Size: 60

Age: 13 years 11 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

We rescued Titan from a shelter (Alameda) where he was running out of time.  At the shelter, he was dog friendly.  But once in a foster home, he started to become dog-aggressive to new dogs and had redirect behavioral problem.  Very friendly with people.  But there's something special about Titan so we decided to put in an extra effort to help him and is responding very well with dogs on-site now at a training facility. At the facility, he now avoids trouble with other dogs, but still needs supervision.  He's a beautiful dog, very affectionate and loves people.  Loves to play ball and well behaved at facility.

Titan is now a Sanctuary Dog.

Tomasina (GA)

Tomasina (GA) Gender: Female

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

Age: 2 years 1 month
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Tomasina (DOB 4/27/2017) is a young brown tabby with white, adult kitty with lots of energy. She likes to sit in laps, sleep on beds, and be a part of the conversation. She would also be best as an only cat. But she is a handful. She'll cross right in front of you as you walk down the hall--and several times along the way at that. She'll talk about how hungry she is--even when she's already eaten quite enough. She likes to play and cuddle. But she's definitely a better match for someone very patient and willing to spend lots of time with her. And though she'll sleep through the night with you, as soon as you open your eyes, she'll expect attention from you immediately. In fact, she can probably hear your eyelids opening up. So there's no tricking her by facing the other way. And sometimes when she plays, she whacks with her paw. It's not particularly hard, but she does get worked up. She also has a fascination for open doors and windows. So she will need strict supervision when people are entering and exiting. She might even be considered a flight risk. If you have any questions or would like to meet her, just send an email to [email protected]
