Angelo 07-3414 Gender: Male

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

Age: 11 years 9 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Hi! I was rescued when I was a teenager and due to my medical condition, I am a sanctuary cat at my kind foster home. I can be a busy boy. Love to tackle your hand yet usually you don't get scratched, I may act rough but am really a gentleman. Like to take my toys into the bathtub and run around; will "help" with mopping, sweeping, making beds, and will want to help you brush your teeth. Love to cuddle under your chin while you watch TV. I am Adorable and charming and want to be your best friend forever. Great with other indoor cats.   Full of personality and life.  He loves to play with his toys in the bathtub, and play fetch (actually brings the toy back to me)!

Angelo had been to a specialist and got confirmation of a Progressive Restrictive Cardiomyopathy and mild non-progressive cardiomyopathy.  The vet could not give us any idea if and when his heart would start giving him difficulties. Vet did state that someday when it does act up there are meds that will help for awhile.  Angelo will live out his life in his loving FFR foster home. .

I am a lonely heart and have been without a family of my own for far too long.

Blitzen D4309

Blitzen D4309 Gender: Male

Breed: Cattle Dog

Size: 22

Age: 4 months 3 weeks
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue
Hi, I need a temporary foster home while I wait to be adopted. Will you please foster me?

Blitzen and his sibling, Dancer, were rescued from a sad situation. He is adorable, curious, lovable and needs basic puppy training/socialization.

Update from his foster home: Blitzen is doing very well at his hero foster home. He is very sweet, social and playful with their dogs. Blitzen is curious, confident and very smart. He loves following his people around, learning home life and handling/cuddling. Blitzen will need a home with yard and experienced guardian with knowledge of cattle dog needs. He will be active and may need dog sport training. Soon he will go to puppy socials. Blitzen complains about being put in a crate – so if he is traveling in a crate, he will complain for a while – about 10 minutes. House-training is going well and he knows to use doggy door.

Update 12/25/18: Blitzen is now showing genetic impairment of deafness and possible vision. Per his foster home and brief exam with a vet. He seems to be deaf – noises do not attract his attention. There may be some frequencies that he can hear. We are waiting to take him for further testing. Also there are “stars” in his eyes, something that happens in the womb as the membranes are forming over the eyes. This is apparently not correctable and usually means that there is some impairment of his vision. The foster home feels he sees pretty well. He is hesitant around unfamiliar steps - and unfamiliar things, as though he's not seeing well enough to move forward confidently. Sometimes, if when holding something out for him, she have to wiggle it to get him to notice. They haven't pinned down if there are areas that he sees better or not but he sees well enough to run in the backyard, go on walks, play with toys, get water and food.  His brother's DNA test, shows pure Australian Cattle Dog.

I am a spayed female, tan Labrador Retriever and Chinese Sharpei.

My age is unknown.

Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:

Meet Bo. She is a young adult Labrador and German Shepherd mix (possibly). First thing you'll notice on her when you see her up close are the scars on her face, front legs and right ear. We think she was attacked/got in a fight with another dog that did a number on her. Despite her previous experience she is just the sweetest thing. Bo loves people and enjoys sitting next to you and get pets. She gets along great with other dogs and her favorite activity is to just run around after a playful dog. If you are looking for a friendly gentle giant, Bo is your girl!

Hi, my name is Chico. I am a 2 years old, neutered male American Bulldog mix. I am very people attentive, I love toys and I enjoy running around with other dogs. I have lots of energy but regular walks can take care of that. I do know some basic commands such as 'sit'. I need to work on my manners upon meeting other dogs because all I want is to jump around and play. I am looking for a forever home that understands some dog behaviors and will be able to provide me with some training, which shouldn't be too hard since I will do anything for treats! If you are looking for an active friend to join you on walks, runs and hikes then I am your guy!

Chip 05-3853

Chip 05-3853 Gender: Male

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

Age: 6 years 11 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Chip (DOB 3/28/12) is one big non-stop purr machine. He can't help but love getting little kitty massages over his whole body. He and his brother, Pixel, were found living in a company parking garage. Although well-fed and healthy, the one thing they lacked was human companionship and socialization. Now in their foster home, they're learning all about the benefits of lap-sitting, petting, laser light playing, and overall adoration from humans. Since they are bonded, it's best for them to be adopted together as a pair. Although still a bit skittish, they are well on their way in transition from two healthy feral kittens to two healthy, active, and friendly in-your-face kittens. They just need a little more patience and understanding to complete their journey. Chip and Pixel will be showcasing every Saturday and Sunday at the Fremont Petco from 1-4. Come meet them and give them the attention and little kitty massages they crave.

Comet D4159

Comet D4159 Gender: Male

Breed: Miniature Poodle Mix

Size: 11

Age: 2 years 2 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Poor Comet was badly neglected (matted, covered in dirt, ear infections, thin) and abandoned at a crowded shelter. He was nervous and scared at the shelter, but can be walked, petted, and handled. Once out he relaxes and is sweet. Comet just needs time to heal, get healthy, and experience holistic foods and home training. He is also now enjoying his new groomed look! Comet would do best in a quiet home.

Update from Foster Home: Comet follows his person around all the time. He does his business outside but wants his person to go with him. Comet would do best in a home where there is someone home most of the time. His favorite place is his person's lap. He is crate trained and happily goes into it every night at bed time.

Cookie D4348

Cookie D4348 Gender: Female

Breed: Chihuahua

Size: 8

Age: 2 years 5 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Cookie was very pregnant and about to give birth at the shelter. She had no options left so we took her in. She was a shelter favorite and everyone adored her super sweet personality. Cookie loves people and giving kisses. She gave birth to her single puppy but sadly Cookie's pup died after about 10 days. Foster home is giving Cookie extra love and attention to get her through this loss.

Update from foster home: Cookie gets along with my other dogs, but tries to dominate them and gets protective of me. She may be best as only dog. She is extremely responsive to commands and is quick to learn and understand boundaries. Also, she does not do well in a crate, cries a ton, pretty much a bed sleeper. About 90% house-trained.

11/7/18:  Poor Cookie.  She was spayed and had her dental with 9 decaying tooth extractions!  She is now resting and healing.  Soon, she will feel so much better.

Meet 8 months old, spayed female named Cora. We believe that Cora is an Australian Cattle dog and bully mix. She has many behaviors typical for a herding dog. She is very active and needs home with spacious back yard and lots of things to do. Cora is very sweet, playful, has lots of energy and can tire out even the most energetic dog/person. She gets along greatly with other dogs and she loves to play fetch. Cora could benefit from puppy training and a home where people can devote time to mold her into an amazing dog that she has a potential to become.

Daisy D5084

Daisy D5084 Gender: Female

Breed: Chihuahua (Long Haired) Mix

Size: 10

Age: 6 years 10 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Daisy was adopted but due to her guardian's declining elder health and lack of funds for vet care, she returned Daisy due to her diagnosis of diabetes (need more vet care, tests, and medications), she was returned back to us. Daisy was very sick in Dec. 2017 and her foster home rushed her to emergency for hospital care. Poor Daisy had 3 days of IV and hospital care to save her. She is now a Sanctuary Dog at her hero foster home. Daisy now needs twice daily doses of injected insulin and periodic blood/urine/lab tests and needs to be monitoring for the rest of her life. So far her vet costs exceed $1,300.00 which her foster home covered. They are her angels and heroes to care for her and all her medical needs.

We took in Daisy last minute from a very crowded shelter on 10/28/14. She is very sweet and friendly. Great with other dogs and easy going. Daisy was covered with fleas and treated/bathed. She has bad teeth and will get her dental on Monday. Meanwhile, she is now relaxing at her wonderful foster home and getting TLC.

Donner D4321

Donner D4321 Gender: Male

Breed: Miniature Poodle Mix

Size: 12

Age: 1 year 2 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Donner was badly neglected, skinny and matted when he was left at a shelter. At the shelter, he was nervous and sad but slowly warmed up. His fur was severely matted, greasy and dirty. Thanks to the shelter for shaving him down. Soon, once he gains a little weight and grows his coat back out, Donner is going to be adorable. He was quiet during his car ride but is now very happy, incredibly sweet, playful and loves to give kisses.

Donner got all his vet care and is now resting and learning at his hero foster home. He is great with other dogs and loves his walks. Donner needs time to enjoy healthy foods, learn and get TLC at his foster home. He needs basic training. More information to come as we learn more about Donner!

Update:  Poor Donner had his neuter surgery at a clinic, but had a reaction to their glue used for stitches and got very sick. He had to go back to our regular vet twice for medication for upset GI, antibiotics, pain meds and had to get 2nd surgery to stitch neuter site which opened up. Donations appreciated to help us with his $650 vet bills incurred so far.

Dusty D6527

Dusty D6527 Gender: Male

Breed: German Wirehaired Pointer Mix

Size: 50

Age: 2 years 7 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Dusty (Watch my video!) was an 11th hour rescue from a shelter and about to lose his life the next morning. He had no options left and no one has stepped up to help him. The shelter contacted us and we rescued him.

Dusty was adopted from the shelter a year ago and returned due to lack of time to train him. He is moderately active, athletic, needs training, can jump up to face level (wants attention), will chew leash (excited) and needs more dog socialization. Dusty was fine with other nice shelter dogs but stiff. Dusty is unsure how to socialize (under-socialized). He was fine with a female dog that gave him kisses on his face.

Shelter staff says he is very friendly and lovable with people. Dusty loves attention and being petted. Many adore him. Once he gets his exercise/walk, he relaxes and settles down. Dusty needs a very experienced adult dog foster home with someone around more that has good training skills and is able to exercise him daily. More info. to come from his temp. foster home.

Update: Dusty is doing well at his foster home and learning. Knows basic commands. He listens until he gets the zoomies so he needs recall work. He needs someone around with good training skills to guide him. No cats. Fine with other dogs his size who are gentle nice with him and going for walks.

He has fear issues with loud noises on the streets when he walks and will pancake to the ground and freeze. Basic training tips are not working yet. Dusty will get up once he knows they are turning back to head home. He is happy and loves his walks on quiet trails. He is not a city dog. Dusty needs an adult home. Kids 12 yrs and up. Dusty need continue supervision and training. With his foster home, he is very lovable.

Ezekiel (Zeke)

Ezekiel (Zeke) Gender: Male

Breed: Maltese Mix

Size: 6

Age: 3 years 3 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue
Hi, I need a temporary foster home while I wait to be adopted. Will you please foster me?

7/20/2018: Update from foster home: Zeke has come along way. When we got him he was so starved you could feel his ribs and hip bones. It's taken him a long time to trust, but with his abusive last home, that is what is expected. Loves his little squeaky toys (doesn't squeak them), just loves to carry around the house and when done carries them inside his kennel. Kind of a little toy hoarder. He also loves playing with his foster home's little female dog. Very adorable personality. Zeke would be great in a home as an only dog or with another small female companion. He would do best in a home with one person, preferable; female, since the male was the abuser in his last household. Ezekiel needs to learn that he is safe and feels loved. He will need an experienced, one person, adult-only home. NO KIDS since he may nip. Zeke also tries to guard his master. This will take an experienced home that knows to put Zeke away when he exhibits this behavior - most commonly when visitors come to house. He is content being somewhere by himself when guests are visiting. He prefers quiet routine walks around neighborhood. He is fearful at strange and busy places. We are looking for a new home with someone that is willing to work with him in the situations he is fearful of; public, etc.

Frankie D2682

Breed: Pit Bull Terrier

Size: 40

Age: 9 years 9 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue
Hi, I need a temporary foster home while I wait to be adopted. Will you please foster me?

Frankie came into FFR on 6/8/11 for our help to find her a new adoption home. Frankie is a very special dog. She comes from an abusive past and has flourished despite her past treatment.  She is very curious yet cautious of new experiences.  She does have high prey drive to other dogs and needs to be on leash at all times for control outside of her home.  She has learned to play with toys and sleep in her crate.  She is very smart and tries to avoid when she knows it’s time to do something she doesn’t want to do, so we are working on her obedience manners.  Frankie hasn’t had a lot of attention in her short life, so she is very reluctant to let you stop petting her.  With supervision, she ignored the foster home's cat & fine with same size male dog. Frankie needs a very experienced pack leader guardian to train her. Adult home. No kids.

**If you can't give her a home, but can donate to help with her boarding care and training, we greatly appreciate it.  Please be sure to note that your donation is for Frankie.

Update: Frankie is doing great at her trainer/boarding home. She went out for a social walk at a park and streets, and she was great meeting new people. She did ignored other barking dogs but did bark at dogs at a store. She needs a forever very experienced home.  Best as the only dog to continue her training.  We are paying for her boarding with a trainer/boarding home.

Hi, I’m Helix - gray/brown tabby. (Watch my video!) I think I’m funny. I’ve got to be if I want to make it as a feline comedian. While I look serious on the outside, I am a total softie and love people, as well as my step-brother Pepper. I like to be wherever my humans are and am sure to lend them a helping hand when I’m not playing or cuddling with Pepper. Like any good step-brother, I do my best to show him my love by waking him up when he’s sleeping to give him love bites. After being rescued as an only kitten, I couldn’t imagine living without Pepper, so if you’re interested in us, please put in an application!

Jasmine 09-4123

Jasmine 09-4123 Gender: Female

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

Age: 7 months 1 week
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

If ever there were a runt of the litter, then that would be little Jasmine (dob 7/22/2018). And as good things come in small packages, we have in Jasmine a super playful, friendly, and humorous little kitten. As she stands on your lap, her little butt starts to jiggle back and forth. And then she jumps up toward you as if you were her prey. She also thinks it's fun to repeat this move as often as necessary. Basically, her sense of humor is inversely proportional to her size. As small as she is, nothing seems to bother or frighten her. Introduce her to a new cat, no problem. Introduce her to a new section of the home, just more fun for her to have. She wants to be part of the family. So as her humans watch TV, she runs back and forth on the couch collecting attention and love until she finally sits still and is perfectly content. Since she's small for her age, it will take more time before she is ready for adoption. She weighs about half what other kittens her age do. Despite this, however, she's healthy and active. She'll start showcasing at the Fremont Pet Food Express so that she can get to know whomever it will be that decides to make her a part of their family.

Poor Jason was left abandoned and tied to a street pole. He ended up at a shelter where he was confused and nervous at first. After a couple of days he relaxed. Jason was fearful at our vet office. However, within a few hours at our temporary foster home and trainer, he began adjusting and warmed up fast. Jason loves treats, knows basic sit and down commands, and is friendly. He needs basic training and an experienced guardian. Jason seems to be a working line German Shepherd and is very handsome. He will be great loyal buddy and hiking buddy. Jason is dog-friendly and will back down to dominant dogs. He is named after the handsome Aquaman actor.

My name is JAX.

I am a male, black and white Siberian Husky.

The shelter staff think I am about 7 months old.

Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:

Meet Jax, 7 months old Siberian Husky. Jax was surrendered to us because his previous owners had to give him up because they weren't allowed to have him in apartment. Jax knows how to sit and is treat motivated so learning new things comes easy to him. Due to his young age he would definitely benefit from some basic obedience training with a professional dog trainer. Jax plays well with other dogs and as all huskies, he LOVES to run. If you are looking for an exercise or hiking buddy, come meet Jax.

Jerry is an handsome gentleman. Very friendly and sweet. Maybe he will be a little bit shy at the very beginning but when he gets to know you he will like to stay with you.

He doesn't like to be held or grabbed, but you can tell he loves when you rub his belly by purring. He is also curious and loves playing with any toy you give him.

He will run to you if you call his name, very smart and lovely boy.

He enjoys living with other cats with a proper introduction.

PENDING ADOPTION

Gender: Male

Breed: Cairn Terrier / Terrier Mix

Size: 7

Age: 2 years
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

We rescued Kaui and many of his siblings from a home with multiple dogs. All were neglected, thin, dry skin, poor coat and infested with fleas. They received full vet care and will need time in a foster home to relax, get healthy with holistic fresh food/supplements, trained and socialized.

10/10/18 Foster Home Update:  Kaui is a diamond in the ruff!  He is a sweet little boy! Kaui has learned much since we started fostering him.  He was so afraid when we first got him and while still cautious, he warms up to people/situations when given the space and patience to trust.

Kaui is very playful with humans/dogs once he knows you.  His favorite playtime games are tug and chase!  Kaui is a quiet dog that loves to be around his people and home where he feels safe.  He would love to have a doggie buddy and space to zoom around with his dog friend(s).  Kaui is potty-trained and knows how to use a doggie door.  Kaui will make someone very happy!

Breed: Siberian Husky

Age: 1 year 2 months
Listed By: Tri-City Animal Shelter

My name is KENAI.

I am a neutered male, black and white Siberian Husky.

The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 1 month old.

Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:

Meet Kenai. He is a 1 year old Siberian Husky. Kenai can be a shy boy especially when it comes to meeting human males. Due to his behavioral history, Kenai would prefer a home with females that are home a lot, work from home or are retired. Home with previous Husky experience is a must. Kenai can be a little bit of an escape artist so a 100% secure back yard is required. He gets easily spooked by people, noises and things he doesn't know so he needs a handler who can control him and calm him down when he gets scared. Kenai gets along with other animals but he is known to get jealous when attention is given to anyone else but him so for everyone's wellbeing - home without other pets is preferred. Please speak to shelter front staff if you think you're up for a challenge and could give Kenai a good home.

KIRBY - ID#A152666

KIRBY - ID#A152666 Gender: Male

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

Age: 1 year 1 month
Listed By: Tri-City Animal Shelter

Let us introduce you to a very special little fella named Kirby. Kirby is a sweet, playful 7-month old, neutered male, buff and white kitten. When Kirby first arrived at the shelter, he was only 8 weeks old and a friendly kitten, who purred like a little engine when he was cuddled. During his initial stay at the shelter, we soon noticed that he wasn’t eating dry food and he appeared dehydrated despite all the water he was drinking. After putting Kirby on fluids, our shelter vet examined him and drew blood for additional tests. The results of those first lab tests came back showing some elevated levels indicating that Kirby could possibly have issues or illness affecting his kidneys.
More tests and ultrasound was performed by VCA All About Pets in Union City. After all the tests it is suspected that Kirby might have sustained an unknown kidney injury/had untreated UTI, prior to arriving at the shelter. It is difficult for us to predict what his future will look like in terms of his kidney health; He might be prone to infections and/or urinary blockages which will then need to be addressed timely and such an injury could potentially lead a shorter life expectancy.
Kirby is finally ready to find his furever home! A few things that we are looking for from his future guardians – Kirby requires a home where his pet parent/family will be committed to being attentive and diligent in caring for him so that he remains healthy. Kirby will need to be strictly an indoor cat; he will have to stay on prescription diet for a while longer and possibly long term; his bathroom habits and water intake will need to be monitored and any issues addressed right away with a vet. If you’d like more information on Kirby, or to arrange a visit with him, please contact the shelter.

Sweetie Kirby was timid at the shelter but warms up. He got all his vet care and is now relaxing at his foster home. At home he is now a wiggly, busy body, curious, friendly, and happy little guy. He is very thin and will need to put on some weight. More info. to come as he learns and relaxes.

From Foster Home: Very active boy. He is so exuberant that he jumps up to get to people. Not throwing his weight against you, just jumping to get your attention. It is so much his personality that I don't hold out much hope for training it out of him. No cats, will chase.  House-training is still in progress.

Kirby is very active. We are looking for a home for him where someone is home more with another small dog playmate.

Liam D5122

Liam D5122 Gender: Male

Breed: Terrier / Yorkshire Terrier Mix

Size: 17

Age: 8 years 7 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Liam was rescued from a crowded shelter where he was nervous. Once out he warms up and is gentle & friendly.  Poor Liam suffered for years in pain with no proper vet care and badly neglected (left outside, skinny, badly matted) before he was dumped at a city shelter. Liam had severe dental decay with infections which required major severe dental surgery with x-rays, biopsy and 14 infected/rotten decayed teeth extracts. The infections was so bad it caused two holes (oronasal fistulas) on the roof of his mouth, to his nasal cavity (causing food & water to travel to his nasal area so he cannot eat properly). The hole required additional repair surgery.  Huge thanks to his great foster home for all their TLC and driving him back/forth to the vet for all his vet needs.  Update 9/10/15: Liam is doing great and very happy, sweet & friendly. The two holes on the roof his mouth to his nasal cavity has not healed since his major dental surgery. FFR has taken care of all his needs which is very costly.  Vet bills are over $2,000. Donations greatly needed & appreciated to help Liam!

10/28/15: He saw the Dog Oral Specialist. $1200, xray & biopsy. Awaiting biopsy. No bone in room, diseased roof tissue. Repair might not be possible. Awaiting test results. Donations needed to help cover his $3,200 vet bills so far.

1/25/16 update:
Unfortunately, all of Liam's tests, cultures and his biopsy came back negative (meaning, no info) from two local specialists and the UC Davis specialists. One specialist suggested that is is perhaps an auto-immune illness (though blood test does not show anything) for the holes on the roof of his mouth (caused by his horrible neglected mouth/teeth infections when he was dumped). So, now Liam is on steroids help him. Donations to help us with Liam's vet expenses are greatly needed and appreciated.  His vet bills are now over $9,000.

Update from his Foster Home: Liam is doing very well with the steroid treatment. The holes in his mouth have stabilized and do not seem to be getting bigger. He now only needs to see the vet and get a blood test once a year. He is able to eat regular kibble and Primal raw food nuggets. Liam takes his steroid pills every other day with his food with no problems. Because of the holes in his mouth, he prefers to drink water from a bottle (water bottles that small pets like rabbits drink from) than from a water bowl. He is a happy and sweet dog that loves his walks, car rides, and cuddling. Liam needs an experienced adult home. Miracle Club

Maggie D2246

Maggie D2246 Gender: Female

Breed: Lhasa Apso / Miniature Schnauzer Mix

Size: 31

Age: 13 years 6 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Sanctuary dog: Maggie and her son, Calvin, were rescued from Hayward Shelter on 8/20/08. Both were badly neglected. Maggie was never groomed and extremely matted. But after her bath & make-over grooming, she is now beautiful. She is friendly with people she trusts, then gentle, adorable and a sweetheart. Leary of strangers and will growl & nip. She did great at her two foster homes and was social, but months later, in a home, she became more fearful of strangers or new people who try to pet her head & learned to growl/nip to protect herself (insecure). She goes up to people for treats, but doesn't want to be petted unless she knows/trusts the person. Good on leash and sits for treats.

To protect Maggie, she is now a sanctuary dog with an FFR person whom she is bonded to. With person she bonds to she is very cooperative, easy-going and well behaved.

Marco

Marco Gender: Male

Breed: Spaniel Mix

Size: 15

Age: 7 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue
Hi, I need a temporary foster home while I wait to be adopted. Will you please foster me?

Marco is one of the 3 puppies we rescued from a backyard home. Their 2 moms gave birth to 9 pups (accident from stray male dog). They all lived outside in their backyard kennel with dog run, had no training, no walks, under-socialized and no vet care. Moms look like spaniel mix, about 35 lbs. Dad was a stray dark color short leg dog. All 9 pups are friendly with their prior family (adults/teens) but out of their yard they are nervous, shy and under-socialized.

All the puppies got their vet exam, vaccinations, de-worm and ID chip on Sat, 1/12/19. All are now relaxing and learning at their foster homes. He is very sweet, gentle, adorable and loves to snuggle at his foster home. With time, he will learn to go out for walks, indoor home life and go to puppy socials. He will need Puppy Training and continue socializing. More info. to come.

1/28/19 update:  Marco is very friendly and affectionate with especially one person at his foster home.  He seems to bond to one person and wants to follow.  Once that person is out of the home, he is friendly with the other 2 people, but waits for his favorite person.  He needs a experienced adult home only and someone around to continue his training and leash walks (not to react to new dogs or people).

Molly 05-3177 Gender: Female

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

Size: 1.5

Age: 12 years 11 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Friendly, but camera shy. Great with other kitties. Very sweet and great kitty. Molly was adopted from us when she was only 5 mos., in Sept. 2006. Due to hardship & move, adopter returned her to us. Molly is doing well at her foster home. Now relaxed.

Update from her foster home: Molly is fine with non-confrontational cats and dogs, Molly will get along with them, but never trust them, always keeping arms length. She would have a similar reaction to any human that is not understanding of this. I.e. Molly would not be good in a house with children. You have to let Molly get to know you slowly and trust you. Then she will come to you when you call. It's not the people she's afraid of, but the unknown that scares her and she will hide. Given a choice, I would suggest Molly is best in a house with no other animals. She is more likely to roam the entire house and hence maximize interaction with the people. Like any normal cat, she strongly desires human interaction, so she will set aside her fear to seek it out. But not if she fears any aggressiveness from other animals. Adult home only.

Noah was found in the streets by one of our foster homes. He was probably hit by a car and left to die on the streets. Noah was laying in the streets and injured for 2 days before our volunteer helped him. Our foster home took him in and rushed him to our vets. Poor Noah was skinny, sick with URI, broken pelvic and tail. Despite all his injuries and pain, he still purred when he was being handled. With vet care and TLC, he is now healthy, but will need his orthopedic hip & tail surgery soon. We need to raise funds for his surgeries which will cost over $3,000. Hi, I’m Pepper. (Watch my video!)I’m a totally cool cat, at least I think so. My step-brother, Helix, thinks he’s cooler than me, but that doesn’t stop me from being my chill, laid-back self. When I’m not lounging around the house, you can find me playing with Helix or curling up on my foster parents’ laps. While Helix drives me crazy by thinking that my nap time is a good time to play, he is my best friend and we are looking for our forever family to share our love. If you are interested in us, please put in an application!

5/13/18:  Pepper has been super healthy and all the suddenly, did not feel well.  He had to go to our vet for for full blood chemistry tests and x-rays.  Everything was normal.  With fluids and anti-nauseous medications, he perked up and went home the next day.  Now fine.   His vet bills and over-night hospital care has costed us over $1,500.00 (not including supplies).  We urgently need and greatly appreciate donations to help pay his vet bills.

Pippin was rescued from a crowded shelter. He was nervous but warmed up. He is sweet, dog and people friendly. Pippin is very happy at his foster home. He is playful with their dog and very sweet. So far he has been good with their cat. Pippin is resting from his vet care and neuter surgery. Doing great! He sure loves his sofa time. Adorable!

Update from Foster Home: Pippin is a very sweet little guy. He's pretty much fully house-trained as long as you let him out 2-3 times/day. Pippin does great with their cats. Mostly he ignores them. They jump on the bed or couch next to him and he doesn't even move. He does try to eat cat food if he gets the chance. He's pretty responsive when called. He does try to jump a lot, and he's a climber for such a little guy. Mostly he just wants to be as close to you as possible and always has his tail wagging. He likes to sleep under a blanket. Pippin goes to doggie day care so he is an easy-going cuddly dog when he gets home from his day of playing.

Pixel (DOB 3/28/12) is about as big of a purr machine as his brother, Chip. He loves getting attention from people and being noticed. He and his brother, Chip, were found living in a company parking garage.

Rocco would be a good addition to a home with teens or just adults. He's a mature fella who likes a laid back home that would like to take him on new adventures around town or maybe share a sandwich with him on the porch. He used to be very uncomfortable with people touching his mouth. But once he had his teeth cleaned and the bad teeth removed, he is feeling on top of the world. He is a chunky guy to who you just want to cuddle, but he'd rather get pets and play with toys with squeakers. So open your home and your heart to this adorable senior who has a lot of spunk.

Sammy D5644 Gender: Male

Breed: German Shepherd

Size: 80

Age: 3 years 7 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue
Hi, I need a temporary foster home while I wait to be adopted. Will you please foster me?

Sammy was adopted Aug. 2017, but now returning due to move and his fear of Thunder Storms and loud construction noise in TX.  When he was fostered and lived here in California, he was fine and normal happy dog.   He will return soon, and needs a experienced foster home.  He is great with other dogs.

We were Sammy's last hope at a super over-crowded shelter. He is friendly, craves gentle attention & takes treats gently. He has very expressive ears & beautiful tail feathers. Sammy seems like one of those boys that would follow you everywhere and is very polite. Dog friendly and very sweet. More info. to come as he relaxes in our foster home. UPDATE: Sammy is doing great at his foster home with another female GSD. They love playing and going for long walks. He is a love. Here is his shelter video by volunteers: https://youtu.be/eRHqIST_WIg

Update: He is now doing much better and not counter surfing. He loves playing with another dog at Red Rover Doggie Day Care and very active. Sammy would be happiest with another playful dog, unless the home can truly exercise and take him out for dog socials. He is well behaved for our car rides and on leash at our showcases. Sammy wants to bond to person and be your best friend!

Sammy needs someone around, home with yard, maybe another dog playmate or dog socials to play. He is active. Adult home. Kids 12 yrs+. Once he gets his daily exercise, he is very well behaved.  He is doing great at his foster home and sweetie!

Shannon 07-4111

Shannon 07-4111 Gender: Male

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

Size: 3

Age: 10 months 2 weeks
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Shannon was first spotted frantically trying to cross a busy street.  His rescuers watched helplessly as he dodged in and out of traffic--desperate, terrified, and completely disoriented.  He didn't know where he was, as if he had been abandoned.  After nearly getting hit by cars multiple times, he tried climbing up inside one's engine.  But when it sped down the street (as the driver had no idea he was there), he was thrown back onto the pavement. How its tires missed him was beyond luck.  And how the next car's tires missed him was beyond even more unimaginable luck. The driver of that car stopped to make sure that she hadn't hit him as he finally darted into and hid inside a huge warehouse off of the street.  And when an employee was kind enough to allow the volunteers to set up a humane trap inside the building, he was rescued at last.  So it only seemed appropriate to name this kitten after that very kind young man whose name was Shannon.

The good news didn't stop there.  Would little kitten, Shannon, be friendly enough for adoption?  You bet!  Scared as he was, he meowed to and approached his rescuers, as if trying to encourage them to pet his little head.  And then his purr motor wouldn't stop as he rubbed up against them trying to make up for however much time he had been without humans.  Had they ended up making their left turn into traffic a couple of minutes sooner or later, they might never have witnessed this little guy's plight.  And now this polydactyl kitten with unusual orange/light brown highlights on otherwise solid gray coloring gets to find some humans to love and be loved by.  He's got extra toes, extra coloring, and even extra sweetness to go along with his looks.

He will soon be showcasing at the Fremont Pet Food Express on Saturday afternoons.  And a big thanks to all the pedestrians, drivers, and warehouse workers who helped make this rescue possible!  Whew!!!!!!!!!!

Sherlock D5098

Sherlock D5098 Gender: Male

Breed: Lhasa Apso Mix

Size: 14

Age: 4 years 10 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Sherlock was rescued from a crowded shelter. He is smart, curious, confident and gorgeous. Super people friendly, alert, snuggly and loves attention but he needs a leader to guide him. He can get anxious and nervous (Llasa personality) and will nip if scared.   He does not like being pushed, carried or kissed.  No fast grabs. Head sensitive and will nip.  He is good with other small dogs with proper introductions on leash, but he wants to be the top dog (alpha) at home, especially with other male dogs. Sherlock is best as only dog in household.  Cannot coddle him and need guidance. No sofa space or he will guard his space.  He did well with other dogs during our testing and on walks, but not in home.  Loves walks and yard to go out for potty biz and sun.  He needs adult very experienced guardian only .Sherlock is sensitive and needs the guardian to be his leader with confidence (he will sense anxious/nervous person) and tell him what to do vs coddling (he will get confused). Guardian must be confident and guide him. He was leary and fearful of young kids (will nip). At home, he likes to follow person around but does not like his face petted and may nip if stressed. Sherlock needs access to fenced yard, no apt living. He needs daily exercise and someone home more or someone that can consistently give him a mid-day break. With our volunteers, he is friendly, walks well on leash and listens. Will snuggle in our laps (both women & men) when he trusts the person.

Sherlock wants to bond to confident person who will guide him and he will listen. Smart. At his foster home, we learned that Sherlock is very allergic to Dust Mites (in carpet). After many vet visits and holistic vets, he is now on raw diet only and herbs for his allergy. So he needs a home with no carpet to avoid dust mites. He needs experienced quiet adult home and NO KIDS.

Snowy D5051

Snowy D5051 Gender: Male

Breed: Miniature Poodle / Dachshund Mix

Size: 16

Age: 11 years 5 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Snowy was rescued on 9/29/14 from a Santa Clara County shelter. Snowy is a very gentle and sweet dog. Very affectionate and does great with other dogs. He is recovering from severe neglect where he lived his life outside. Due to his severe matting he ended up having many open skin wounds which are now healing. He is undergoing extensive rehab, learning to live inside a house.

FOSTER HOME UPDATE - 13 October 2014 Snowy is doing fantastic in his foster home. As the foster home states, "he is the perfect dog!" He does great with their dog and all family members. He enjoys going on walks and hikes. Since being in his foster home, we have discovered that Snowy may have a neurological/behavioral issue. He seems to be unaware of when he needs to go to the bathroom. He tends to soil himself without realizing it. Snowy was examined by a vet and all tests seemed to show no neurological issues. Instead the vet thought his issue was more behavioral, however there is no way to be 100% certain. The foster home has him wear diapers and it works great. Snowy will need that special person willing to take him as he is and boy will his forever home get so much more in return. He is just a love bug, loves being around people and especially loves to snuggle and be held. He is one of those dogs that has been through so much he now deserves his forever loving home.

Snowy is now a Sanctuary Dog. Donations appreciated for his supplies (diaper/pads) & vet care.

Please help us raise $4,000 for Snowy's recent emergency vet care, supplies and future medical needs.

Socks got his Christmas Miracle today! Poor Socks was dumped at a high kill shelter where he was about to be PTS (put to sleep). He was scared at the shelter. Huge thanks to his Hero Foster Home and Angel, he is now relaxing at her home. Socks is now friendly and loves being petted. Socks will rest and then go to our vet for Sr. Wellness tests and check his teeth. Usually neglected (poor diet & no vet care) adult to senior cats, always need dental and teeth extractions from decay. More info. come.

Sparky D4328

Sparky D4328 Gender: Male

Breed: Spaniel Mix

Size: 15

Age: 7 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Sparky is one of the 3 puppies we rescued from a backyard home. All the puppies got their vet exam, vaccinations, de-worm and ID chip. All are now relaxing and learning at their foster homes.

He is very cute, very sweet, and now wagging his tail and warming up to his foster home with another dog. Sparky likes to snuggle up with his people.  Sparky follows their female dog around and loves hanging with her.  He needs another dog at home for his happiness.  Alone, he might be too nervous.  With time he will learn to go out for walks, get used to indoor home life and go to puppy socials. He will need Puppy Training and continued socializing. More info. to come.

Breed: German Shepherd

Age: 1 year 1 month
Listed By: Hayward Animal Shelter

My name is TILLIE.

I am a female, brown and black German Shepherd Dog.

The shelter staff think I am about 1 year and 1 month old.

Shelter Staff made the following comments about this animal:

Tillie is under socialized with unfamiliar surroundings and other dogs but has already made great strides with new people. She loves playing with toys and had a great time discovering bubbles! She is very smart and is looking forward to a lifetime of learning. We think she would do well with teens.

Titan D2027

Titan D2027 Gender: Male

Breed: Belgian Tervuren Mix

Size: 60

Age: 13 years 8 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

We rescued Titan from a shelter (Alameda) where he was running out of time.  At the shelter, he was dog friendly.  But once in a foster home, he started to become dog-aggressive to new dogs and had redirect behavioral problem.  Very friendly with people.  But there's something special about Titan so we decided to put in an extra effort to help him and is responding very well with dogs on-site now at a training facility. At the facility, he now avoids trouble with other dogs, but still needs supervision.  He's a beautiful dog, very affectionate and loves people.  Loves to play ball and well behaved at facility.

Titan is now a Sanctuary Dog.

Tomasina (GA)

Tomasina (GA) Gender: Female

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

Age: 1 year 10 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Tomasina (DOB 4/27/2017) is a young brown tabby with white, adult kitty with lots of energy. She likes to sit in laps, sleep on beds, and be a part of the conversation. She would also be best as an only cat. But she is a handful. She'll cross right in front of you as you walk down the hall--and several times along the way at that. She'll talk about how hungry she is--even when she's already eaten quite enough. She likes to play and cuddle. But she's definitely a better match for someone very patient and willing to spend lots of time with her. And though she'll sleep through the night with you, as soon as you open your eyes, she'll expect attention from you immediately. In fact, she can probably hear your eyelids opening up. So there's no tricking her by facing the other way. And sometimes when she plays, she whacks with her paw. It's not particularly hard, but she does get worked up. She also has a fascination for open doors and windows. So she will need strict supervision when people are entering and exiting. She might even be considered a flight risk. If you have any questions or would like to meet her, just send an email to [email protected]
