Angelo 07-3414

Angelo 07-3414 Hair/Color: Gray, Blue Or Silver Tabby
Gender: Male

Breed: Domestic Shorthair

Age: 17 years
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Hi! I was rescued when I was a teenager and due to my medical condition, I am a sanctuary cat at my kind foster home. I can be a busy boy. Love to tackle your hand yet usually you don't get scratched, I may act rough but am really a gentleman. Like to take my toys into the bathtub and run around; will "help" with mopping, sweeping, making beds, and will want to help you brush your teeth. Love to cuddle under your chin while you watch TV. I am Adorable and charming and want to be your best friend forever. Great with other indoor cats.   Full of personality and life.  He loves to play with his toys in the bathtub, and play fetch (actually brings the toy back to me)!

Angelo had been to a specialist and got confirmation of a Progressive Restrictive Cardiomyopathy and mild non-progressive cardiomyopathy.  The vet could not give us any idea if and when his heart would start giving him difficulties. Vet did state that someday when it does act up there are meds that will help for awhile.  Angelo will live out his life in his loving FFR foster home. .

Huge thanks to our Hero Bottle Baby foster home. She took them in and they thrived. All super adorable. Their eyes opened at about 3 weeks old. They are still bottle feeding (raw goat's milk and puppy replacement milk) and went to their 2nd bottle puppy foster home on 3/9/24. Soon they will be licking slurry mix. More info. to come as they keep growing. They look to be huskies and will be available when 8 weeks old on April 13th and get their vet care (exam, vaccinations, deworm, microchip). 4/7/24: 7 weeks old. They have been doing great at pottying outside or on the pee pad - I think we have only had 2 accidents? Also they are sleeping perfectly through the night, I only get up once in the middle of the night to let them go potty. Athos is a little chiller and more affectionate with people. Porthos is more playful, loves toys, and a bit more independent. They have been so sweet and so easy compared to our last foster...

Pups personality so far: Athos is the first one to settle down to nap; Porthos is higher energy and will wake up first and wake Athos up. Athos is slightly more vocal but they are both vocal :) Porthos is more mischievous and curious, I already see him looking for escape routes out of the pen. Athos also seems to be the bossier one... Porthos backs down but Athos seems to be the more dominant (despite being smaller).

4/20/24 Update: Athos is calmer than his brother, laid back and more aloof. He doesn't seek out attention from people quite as much as Porthos but is very affectionate - he is content being held by anyone, quieter, and settles down quickly. He is mostly only interested in our dog when his brother is playing with her, so I think he would be fine as the only dog with an active owner/family. He is more independent and less eager to please than his brother, a little bit slower on the training :), but is very sweet and chill.

Bear D5209

Bear D5209 Hair/Color: Buff
Gender: Male

Breed: German Shepherd / Husky Mix

Size: 90

Age: 4 years
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Gorgeous Bear was on SASA PTS list Sat. 5/13, at 4:30 pm, so we tagged him to save his life. Shelter favorite but they could not extend his time anymore due to being over-crowded with dogs. Now we need a foster home for ASAP. We will need to pay for emergency boarding for him until we can find him a foster home. He is super dog and people friendly. Sweetie. Loves attention, exercise, basic training and cuddly.  Donations to help pay for his emergency boarding is greatly needed and appreciated.

6/2/23: Bear is doing great at this temp. foster home. He did great in car ride. Very happy, loved being brushed, watching for squirrels in yard and within a day he was normal calm and relaxes inside home. He's a sweetie.  He is great with car rides when fh visits her mom and at dog parks. No cats.

7/25/23: Current schedule: 1/2 hour walk in the morning and the afternoon. Early evening he gets about 45 minutes at dog park to run and play. He eats his meals & sleeps great at night in his crate easily 9 hrs. He’s very food motivated & learns quickly when there are high-value treats. He enjoys being brushed. He seems fine with dremel tool nail trims. He’s tolerant of getting his teeth brushed- his back teeth are yellow but his front are white. He’s fine with checking his paws regularly for foxtails after walks. He’s very curious (not fearful at all) & likes to explore everything when he goes to a new environment. He loves squeaky toys, but he destroys the squeak in them soon. He developed good impulse control with food & is much better waiting at doors/yd gates & crossing streets these days. He knows sit, down, wait (still working on stay for over a minute), drop it, paw/shake, bow, lie down, cover nose, but his recall & heel are not good once outside of the yard. 50% of the time he will play fetch in my side yd but only for about 5x before it bores him. He’s much better at not pulling on his leash on walks, but an alert person still needs to walk him as he’s highly reactive (barking, jumping & pulling) when he sees squirrels or cats. If I can distract him with a high value treat before, he’ll not react bad to dogs on walks. He will ignore my treats when it comes to squirrels & cats though. Not recommended for a cat household.

Hi, I’m Caddy, a beautiful fun loving tortie. I enjoy time with my people and will seek out their attention. My favorite past times is playing with wand toys and laser lights. I can be quite athletic, flipping and twisting to catch my prey. I also enjoy spending time helping my foster mom finish her morning stretches. I will sometimes share the floor towel with her. I am a little conversationist and we have the best talks while she is busy with her daily chores. When not with my people I spending time with my foster siblings romping and napping around the house. I am also quite inquisitive and adventurous always testing my feline super powers. You never know where you might find me, maybe the top of the shower glass! Foster mom was quite amazed when I jumped on top of the glass wall and into the shower and then did the same to get out. Too bad she didn’t have her phone so she could photograph my amazing feat!

Hi, I need a temporary foster home while I wait to be adopted. Will you please foster me?

Christmas family. Adorable Charity, Noelle and Jingle, were dumped in the back of a store. So much for the Christmas spirit of kindness. They were cold, covered in dirt and nervous and the shelter took them in. We rescued them from the distant shelter. The two females are more out-going. Noelle seems to be the top puppy. Both are doing great, got baths, lovable, playful and now very happy at their foster home. More info. to come as they grow and learn. They most likely will grow up to be large adults. Best they get a home with a fenced backyard and active guardian for daily long walks and exercise.

5/1/24 update: Charity goes to day care on week days. On weekends foster mom brings her to the open field to play and run leash free with other dogs. She is very friendly with cats too. Foster home has two mean cats and Charity never has issue with them. Charity loves to be around people, very gentle to kids. She loves to be petted and be praised. She loves to play with toys making squeaky sounds, she likes to play fetch and knows to bring back the ball and drop it off. She knows a lot of commands: leave it, off, stay, heel, back, wait, paw, sit, down, bang, flip, etc. Charity is not at all a picky eater which makes training her a lot easier. She is definitely a quick learner. She loves to walk, and is a very good walker. She knows heel without pulling, never charging up to other dogs, knows not to chase wild animals if warning “leave it” is told ahead of time. Charity is fully potty trained. She sleeps in the crate and can sleep overnight without any accidents at all. She knows to shake the bell on the patio door to ask to go out to the backyard to do her business.

Currently going to doggie day care during the day while foster home works full time off site.  Temp. solution.  Still need a foster home or adopter.

More Info: I weigh approximately 42.00 lbs.

--------------------

Coconut went on a weekend foster. She sent the following information:

"He turned out to be a phenomenal dog! Never heard him bark! He slept in my bed and was very cuddly at night time. He turned out to be a very chill office dog and just slept while I had him at work with me. Other people would come see him and comment on how good he was. I was able to leave him “UN-crated” for 4 hours and all he did was sleep (I watched him on camera) no accidents.

He walks really well on a leash and would constantly look for guidance. Very eager and quick to learn. Rode GREAT in the car. Took a bath really well, even ignored the other dogs getting bathed. Not destructive (except for toys).

He loves to play and definitely has energy but almost knows when he needs to relax (like when I’m working or not with him). He goes with the flow….if you want him to be active he definitely will…if you want him to chill out he will. He would probably do really good with kids because he is so playful. Give him a bone and he can occupy himself.

On Sunday he became much more cuddly and loving and less excitable. He was soooo sweet."

He was trainable, I "nipped his mouthiness in the butt right away with a citronella spray….he never mouthed again after that. He did have two pee accidents when I first took him home…he quickly caught on to potty outside."

Breed: Chihuahua (Long Haired) Mix

Size: 10

Age: 12 years
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Daisy was adopted but due to her guardian's declining elder health and lack of funds for vet care, she returned Daisy due to her diagnosis of diabetes (need more vet care, tests, and medications), she was returned back to us. Daisy was very sick in Dec. 2017 and her foster home rushed her to emergency for hospital care. Poor Daisy had 3 days of IV and hospital care to save her. She is now a Sanctuary Dog at her hero foster home. Daisy now needs twice daily doses of injected insulin and periodic blood/urine/lab tests and needs to be monitoring for the rest of her life. So far her vet costs exceed $1,300.00 which her foster home covered. They are her angels and heroes to care for her and all her medical needs.

We took in Daisy last minute from a very crowded shelter on 10/28/14. She is very sweet and friendly. Great with other dogs and easy going. Daisy was covered with fleas and treated/bathed. She has bad teeth and will get her dental on Monday. Meanwhile, she is now relaxing at her wonderful foster home and getting TLC.

Gibby (GA)

Gibby (GA) Hair/Color: Gray/silver/salt & Pepper With White
Gender: Male

Breed: Siberian Husky Mix

Size: 77

Age: 5 years 4 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Gibby is very friendly with people, likes car rides, going on walks and runs and taking naps. He is good in the house and prefers to be inside during the day. He is house trained and exhibits no destructive behavior to belongings or furniture. He likes to be with people all day and can stay in a crate for periods of time. He is a gentle guy and very trainable. He knows "sit" and "leave it" and is very obedient. He loves playing with dogs his size and has learned to coexist with small dogs as well.

Gibson's exercise needs are low maintenance for his breed. He will sleep at your feet while you work from home or watch you cook and do chores. He has gone out dining and out shopping- he loves to meet people. He loves hikes and long walks and enjoys using the obstacle course at the dog park. He would be a great companion and enjoys being with other dogs. He plays with other friendly big dogs at the dog park and attends doggy daycare.

Gibson does use a crate , but uses it crated near another dog while I am gone. Gibson would do best with a person or family who is frequently home or has another dog to keep him company as he does not do well by himself.

He presents a prey drive - someone familiar with the husky breed will be a great match! No small animals, cats, or rural homes with livestock (cows, sheep). He has learned to leave it with cats and squirrels on walks and will listen to command. Must have strong person able to handle him on leash when he does pull.

Gibson does well with respectful kids of all ages.

We are helping Gibby's current guardian to rehome him. Please fill out our online application and we will forward to them. Adoption fee would be minimum $100 donation to Furry Friends Rescue. If you have specific questions please send them through and we will put you in touch with his current guardian.

Hank

Hank Hair/Color: Brown/chocolate With White
Gender: Male

Breed: Boxer Mix

Size: 64

Age: 9 years
Listed By: Peace of Mind Dog Rescue

Meet the dog with the world's biggest heart! Hank has tons of love to share in the form of cuddles, snuggles, and adoration for his family. Hank refuses to pick favorites-in fact, he's a fan of yours already! He has excellent manners-no jumping up when saying hello, never begging, and asking permission before getting onto a bed or couch. Hank would be happiest in a house where folks have deep reserves of affection ready to share with him.

This energetic boy will need people who welcome a dog with spirit, strength, and passions: car rides, long walks, hikes, and fetch (only the best game in the world). He has shown some dog reactivity while on leash, but with reminders and training he's already showing signs of improvement. He has successfully lived with cats in the past, but would require a gradual introduction with any new kitty friends. He admits that his natural inclination is to chase cats (squirrels are also kind of irresistible). We don't know yet how Hank would do with children. Hank's dream situation would include humans of his very own to love, squeaky toys, and a yard.

Hank's DNA results show that he's a Super Mutt Mix! He's 50% Boxer mixed with German Shepherd, Golden Retriever and Border Collie.

Hank was surrendered because his senior guardian was no longer able to care for him.

Hansel was rescued from a distant shelter. He has been neglected, yet he is very sweet, warms up, then friendly, and cuddles when being carried. Huge thanks to Tama Veterinary Hospital for squeezing him in on the day we rescued him. He was loaded with fleas and had to have capstar to kill all the fleas and has pot belly from worms. Hansel got exam, stool test, Drontal plus (dewormer), rabies and microchip. Ear infection was cleaned with 2 week ear meds packed in. His foster home had to bath him right away to get rid of the fleas and dirt. Poor Hansel is so young but was neglected with poor diet, fleas and worms thus dull coat. He will get extra TLC, have dog playmates and get healthy soon at his HERO Foster Home that WFH. Fh cooks home-made foods to add to meals. Onward now to a great happy and spoiled life.

9/30/23 update from his Foster Home: He will try anything without fear as long as he knows I am nearby to keep him safe. He fetches a ball and returns it. His recall is excellent.  He is doing very well on a leash. Loves playing in water. Gusto followed his dog buddies right into the water and started swimming.  He is very motivated to play with other dogs once introduced properly.  Fine with her cat.  He is getting lots of socialization opportunities. He is active and need daily brisk long walks and jogs.  Foster home thinks he may need active guardians for K9 work or dog sports. Very intelligent, curious, receptive, and high energy. He goes on one leash walk and two off leash walks/hikes per day. No kids because he will chase them.

Update:  Hansel needs to stay on leash to learn not to want to chase after runners, cars or bikes. This is common for some young teens if not trained to ignore. Need one on one training to train impulse control and recall.  He will work with a trainer soon for loose leash training.

From our GSD experienced volunteers and what we have seen, he seems to be a normal smart GSD teen energy, but does need active and experienced guardian for daily exercise, someone home, and focus on one on one training and classes.  Dog sports is always fun and great for young dogs.  Need to train for recall and other commands.  Loves playing with other dogs.

Jack is Jill's 4.5-year-old brother (approx.)and they are a bonded pair. Jack is much more cautious than his sister and prefers to scope things out first before deciding to come out of his cozy hiding spots. Being near his sister keeps him calm and relaxed, and they often take naps cuddled up next to each other. Jack is a shy boy, but he opens up quickly. Once you earn his trust, he'll be jumping up on the couch to lay next to you and is the sweetest lap cat. Jack loves to perch next to a window for hours, looking out at the busy birds and neighbors. He'll be so happy just to have a nice view and a quiet place to take a nap. Though he sleeps a lot during the day, he still finds plenty of time to chase his sister around when he needs some exercise.

He doesn't like to be held or grabbed, but you can tell he loves when you rub his belly by purring. He is also curious and loves playing with any toy you give him. He will run to you if you call his name, very smart and lovely boy. Jerry prefers being friends with female cats vs other male cats.

Katniss D7032/D5188

Katniss D7032/D5188 Hair/Color: Tan/yellow/fawn With Black
Gender: Female

Breed: German Shepherd

Size: 65

Age: 7 years 4 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

She is friendly with people she knows and she is moderate active. Good with other dogs she knows, but can be very dog dominate with some dogs when she was at doggie day care for 2 weeks, or strange dogs on walks.  In her temp foster home, she was not good with female GSD stray that was off leash and ran up to her.  After a few meets, she was ok with her but ignored while on leash.  Katniss needs a very experienced guardian to guide and continue her training. She had a mild ear infection which was treated and she is fine now.  Needs experienced guardian for training and exercise with no other dog and someone that understands that not all dogs are social butterflies.  Katniss is loyal and bonds to her guardian, and prefers to be the only dog.  No dog parks.  Katniss would be a great best friend and hiking buddy!

Prior to temp., foster home.  Katniss was doing well at her boarding & trainer's home.  She is smart, loves attention of people she bonds to and has been good with their other dogs with trainer supervision.  They have high GSD training experience to watch body language and their GSD are well trained to leave Katniss alone.

In a temp. foster home, she adjusted and became affectionate.  Loves her home life, relaxing, hanging out with her people, toys, treats, uses a doggie door and large yard.  Pulls on leash very hard and she is strong.  But now she prefers to be the only dog and good with people she knows. Reactive leary to strangers and visitors.  Loves treats and knows "Sit" command.  With visitors, she needs time to warm up before she will trust them.  She will react with "stranger danger".  She needs a very experienced adult home for basic quiet walks, routine, home with backyard and experienced/confident adult guardian with GSD to give her time (2-3 weeks to adjust).

She is emotionally sensitive to change. Phobic of change due to early spay.  At her foster home, she was good with mom and 2 sons (17 & 20 yrs), but leary and growled at the father.  At their home, she loved belly rubs, lounging on the sofa, quiet, and light ball play.  When she is unsure of a person (husband or strangers), she will bark or do low growl.  On walks, she would look at other people or dogs in the distance and did not bark.  Does bark at neighbor's dog from fence.  Will stare and chase squirrel, cat and possum on top of fence.

Update July 2020:  She is now in a very experienced foster home dealing with behavior issue dogs with no other dog at home to work with her.  She is fearful, phobic and very emotionally sensitive of change (more so then other dogs).  Takes her days to weeks to adjust, won't eat or drink, hides in her crate, fearful, and holds her potty biz.  Once she gets over her phobic fear stage in 5 days, she does relaxes and is normal.  Loves belly rubs, lovable, loves being petted, gives kisses, will lounge, watch TV, follow, and being brushed.  She loves kong on rope, squeaky or wobbly motion toys and chase after ball.  Katniss loves cheese, chicken, beef, and some fruit.  She is very strong on leash and wants to hunt for cats or small critters on walks, thus she goes into hunt mode.  She has very high prey drive to cats and small critters.  Once she sees a prey, she is very stubborn, focused, ignores treats, and will not listen to corrections. Wearing a dog pack back and squirt bottle works some with "no".  Took many months for her to now listen but will pull for the critter.  Need to stop and correct with No and stand firm.  Treats do not work.  Katniss wants to go out the door first (bolt) so need to set up dog pen in front door and continue training her with "Stay" and "Wait".   Foster home has to be very strong to hold her leash.  She is a huntress.   At home, she is very good at relaxing, will watch TV, likes Hawaiian music (rush out to yard to play), playing with squeaky toys/balls/tug-o-toy, very sweet and calm at home, will give kisses, shake paw for treats, and a buddy. She is alert and will bark at anyone at front door (protective) or other size of yard.  For yard, show squirt bottle or hose, and now knows to stop and go inside when told.   For now, she is a sanctuary dog unless someone can deal with her behavior issues, walk her during very quiet time to avoid other dogs and strangers, strong to hold her when needed, and deal with high prey drive.  Katniss is a loyal body guard on walks.

Breed: Affenpinscher Mix

Size: 13

Age: 2 years
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Katrina, cute Ewok, was rescued from a crowded shelter where she was living for a month. She was nervous but warmed up once out of noisy cage kennel. She is dog friendly and played with another small dog. She can be fast moving like a squirrel per the shelter. She has been too cooped up and needs to run, play and enjoy some sunshine. Katrina was neglected, matted, dirty, and skinny. She had ear infections that the shelter vet treated with meds and antibiotics. After her vet care with our vet on 5/8/24, she will need grooming. Once she is healthy, she will need her spay and hernia repair. She was fine with handling with vets and staff. Very sweet and once she is comfortable, she loves her toys and is playful. With foster home healthy foods and TLC, she will thrive and be healthy soon. More info. to come while she relaxes, gets TLC, and learns at her foster home.

5/10/24 Update: Happy and doing great. Crate trained and sleeps/naps in crate with no noise. So far, loves eating home cooked meals with some canned food.

Kristmas D4574

Kristmas D4574 Hair/Color: White
Gender: Female

Breed: Maltese Mix

Size: 13

Age: 2 years 5 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Kristmas was fearful and very nervous at the shelter when we rescued her. She is a special behavior needy dog. Kristmas needs time to warm up and feel safe. She can be handled and picked up. She was neglected with matts and had very long toe nails. She was probably too isolated prior and then left in the streets. Kristmas was fine meeting another dog on leash. She was nervous at our vet but they were able to care for her and clip her long nails. She is now in a quiet foster home and relaxing. At first she stayed in her crate inside dog pen and just watched. The next day she felt safer and ate a little. Finally came out and walked out to yard for potty biz. Sniffing and hanging out with the foster home's gentle friendly small dog. Kristmas needs time to decompress and feel safe. Will need an experienced guardian and quiet home situation with attached back yard. More info. to come.  She will only eat home made cooked food. Foster home makes chicken or turkey with rice and veggies.  She won't eat store bought kibble nor can.

Update on day 2:  At foster home, she is very slowly warming up.  She follows their 2 dogs around and out to yard.  She needs a very experienced home with another dog to feel safe.  Best no kids or older kids 10 yrs and up.  She will flinch at fast movement and is head shy.  She needs more time in her foster home to learn and be less fearful.  She slowly will jump on the sofa and go to foster mom to sniff hands.  Kristmas is eating very little now and likes Weruva canned food.  She is still too nervous to eat a full meal. So maybe in another 2 weeks she will be normal but shy behavior.  She was probably too isolated since a puppy so new people and places make her very nervous.  Need to move slow and let her set her pace to trust and feel safe.  She will not walk on leash but can be guided on leash at home with another dog around. Will take time for her adjust. She is not a dog for social outings or parks.

March 2024: She is now walking on leash with a harness. Follows people and foster home's dog on walks. She was a very picky eater but foster home makes home-made meals of meat/veggies/rice for her and their dog. She now loves her food!

Linus D5183

Linus D5183 Hair/Color: Black With White
Gender: Male

Breed: French Bulldog / Cattle Dog Mix

Size: 30

Age: 6 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Linus is part of Charlie Brown Litter. Holly, mom is French Bull Dog /Boston Terrier mix.  2/16/24 DNA test results:  Dad was a Cattle Dog 40% and 9% Border Collie.   They should be medium size adults and smart.

Holly was abandoned at a distant shelter and was very pregnant. Linus' DOB: 12/1/23. Once we rescued Holly and she arrived at her foster home, within 2 hours she went into labor and gave birth to 5 puppies. 2 girls and 3 boys. Whew! Just in time. All the pups and mom did great at their foster home. Home raised, healthy, lovable and social. The 5 pups are now learning at their next foster home for puppy training. All are playful, snuggly, and lovable. We do not know what they are mixed with. They seem larger than Frenchie pups and have tails. We will start to review applications Jan 20th. Puppies will be 8 weeks old on Jan. 27th and will get their first vaccinations and deworm. Need home with attached backyard. More info. to come on each puppy's personality.

1/24/24 Update: The 3 boys are fairly similar all playful and slower than the girls. Linus and Snoopy are a little more timid but get more playful when riled up by Brody. All love attention and to be held. They all did very well getting their first shots and these puppies are extremely smart and well behaved for such young puppies. They are learning sit and not to bite and are all doing very, very well. They will make wonderful family pets for someone. Their temperament is fantastic, gentle playful and sweet.

2/9/24 Update, 10 weeks old: Patty is definitely the smallest with smallest paws. Snoopy and Linus are about the same size 12 pounds and Patty is 10 lbs.. I think they will be medium sized dogs. Snoopy and Linus are slower and calmer. Patty is spunky and more independent and curious and a little more Frenchie personality . All learning crate training. Few accidents on pee pads now. They will hold to go out to backyard for potty biz.

3/15/24 Need foster home for one on one puppy training and socials.

Lisa

Lisa Hair/Color: Tricolor (tan/brown & Black & White)
Gender: Female

Breed: Beagle

Size: 31

Age: 4 years 8 months
Listed By: Hope for China Dogs Rescue

Hi all! I am fostering this lovely, snuggly, and slightly timid beagle girl for Hope For China Dogs Rescue. The pup and I are in Daly City, CA, but the rescue is in LA. The rescue saves mistreated dogs from illegal breeding and the meat trade in China and brings them here to find them better lives. Lisa, 4.5 years old, has a sweet, gentle disposition, is very good meeting new people (very polite and gentle), is good in the car, is dog-friendly in a quiet way, is cat-friendly, is a couch potato who likes belly rubs, and is a snuggle bug and slipper thief. She is short and stocky (needs to lose some weight), has thick, soft fur, and huge paws! She is about 50% of the way there on potty training, and often uses pee pads when inside. She needs English lessons (lol) and basic obedience. She does pull on leash, but not crazily so. No leash aggression. She is startled by loud, sudden noises, but further exposure will lessen this. She is learning what dog treats are (she is still spitting some out) and is getting used to dog food (I'm feeding raw). She does have some separation anxiety when left alone, but if another dog is with her, she seems fine. Ideally, she should have a dog sibling and/or someone who is home much of the day. She needs to lose weight (she's currently 31.5 lbs and could safely lose around 4-8 lbs). Diet and exercise will help her a lot. She is chipped, spayed, and up to date on everything. If you know anyone looking for a sweet sweet beagle girl, please consider Lisa! Lisa on Wagtopia

Hi, I need a temporary foster home while I wait to be adopted. Will you please foster me?

Luna has been at Stanislaus Animal Shelter since 7/20/23. Her time was up on 9/2/23 so we rescued her to save her life. Need foster home for precious Luna. She is a shelter volunteer favorite. They all love her. Very sweet, loves to cuddle, affectionate and friendly with all dogs and people. Knows sit. Kind nature about her. We have back up emergency boarding for her. Huge thanks to Kristie. Setting up long distance transport. Best if we can find her a foster home. Luna seems to be an easy and very sweet family GSD.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/848040928655945/permalink/6339584986168151/

Donations towards her emergency boarding is very much needed and appreciated.

9/6/23 update: She is settling in nicely, good eater and very affectionate. Fearless and has to check everything out. Learning how to ask for affection gently and how to not pull so much. Super fast on learning anything and is always watching you. She is very agile and light on her feet. Pretty girl with a lot of spunk. I have seen no dog reactivity, have not tested with cats yet.

4/5/24: No cats for Luna but I have not seen any dog reactivity to any dogs (large or small). No resource guarding of food or toys. You can brush her, touch her feet, clean her ears and clean her teeth. She is very agile and quick, she does love to please. Outside she is much better with men, indoors, she is more guarded and wary. I believe that that "spooky" behavior has been learned to avoid doing things that she would rather not do. If I give her a firm and fair correction, she immediately becomes super friendly and behaves wonderfully. So, the new home or foster would need to be strong willed enough and comfortable setting boundaries and manners for her. She is healthy, good stomach (can eat anything with no problems). She loves to cuddle and is super loyal

Hi, I need a temporary foster home while I wait to be adopted. Will you please foster me?

Lyle was on the SASA PTS list Sat. 5/13, at 4:30 pm, so we tagged him to save his life. He was a shelter staff favorite.  Now, we need a foster home for him ASAP as he is in emergency boarding.

Lyle is a super dog and is people friendly.   He loves to play then calms - and he loves his pets.   He does need some basic training but he seems easy to train and he's a pleaser.  He already has learned to sit and wait for treats, only gently taking the treat after the release command.   Lyle is very pretty and unique with one blue eye.  Donations are appreciated to help us pay for his emergency boarding until we find him a foster home.

Max (watch my video!) was at a distant overcrowded shelter for over a month when his time was up. He had no options left so we rescued him. All the volunteers adore him. Despite having no walks from his shelter kennel, once out, he is well behaved and great with other large dogs he met at the shelter and volunteers. He needs time to warm up and feel safe, then cooperative loves treats, and is lovable. Smart and gorgeous.  Max did great during his transport car ride, but once at a new place, he was nervous and confused.  Did take treats.  Once he knows you, he will be your best friend and bodyguard. Max will need an experienced guardian and a home with a yard. For now, no kids. More info. to come as he relaxes and learns.

7/1/22: He is now doing great at his foster home with 2 other GSDs.  With time, he adjusted to new people at home.  He is still leary of of strangers.  Bonded to his foster mom.  Loves his walks/hikes, playing ball and relaxing at his foster home.

9/12/21: Sadly, when his potential foster home and her 2 GSDs, during their two meets, her female GSD did not work out with him. The female is less tolerant of new dogs and wants to be the top dog. Max did great with her male dog and social. He loves treats, snuggled, being petted and enjoyed the attention. Need basic leash training. Poor Max will continue to board until we can find him an experienced foster home that will give him time to warm up and feel safe.

Max is boarding until we can find him an experienced and dedicated foster home.  Donations needed to help pay for his boarding.  To date since 10/20/21 over $4,000.

10/1/21: Our volunteers are visiting Max and taking him out for walks and play yard. Doing great and friendly with 2nd visit with female and male, with yummy treats and turkey hot dogs. Max goes to male volunteer for hot dogs, long walk and fine being petted. Max is a sweetie with people he knows and trust. Max would be a great hiking and home buddy.

Neena (was Tootsie) was at a distant and very crowded shelter for a long time and her time was running out. When volunteers took her out she was friendly and great with all the dogs on leash and in dog play groups (off leash). Did great with transporter. She is very skinny and needs to put on weight. Once out at her foster home on 11/17/21, she was nervous but warmed up fast to her foster home, but not to their female husky. She was guarding and reactive to their dog at home. Got into a few dog fights. They are keeping them separate and giving her time to adjust.

11/28/21 Update: Took about a week, but Neena is now doing fine at her foster home and with their other female dog. She is the top dog at their home. They love their walks and hanging out. They do feed in seperate areas. She still need more basic and leash training.

1/12/22 Update: Still working on leash training to teach her to stop pulling and not be so excited when seeing other dogs while on walks.

3/28/22 Update: Foster hasn't attempted to test Neena with cats, however they can see Neena has a strong prey drive so if the cat runs it is expected Neena would chase.   She is now great with foster home's female husky.

Pups are not available til after 8 weeks old and they get their vet care. They most likely will grow up to be large adults. Best they get a home with a fenced backyard and active guardian for daily long walks and exercise.

Update: Both pups are doing great at their foster home.  Noelle needs a new experienced foster home due to long vacations.  Learning quick.  Smart and playful. Both are learning to go out to yard for potty time and learning to take turns for attention. Both are friendly and social. Been meeting many new people who visit during the Christmas break. They are curious of new sounds and sights, and comfortable. Smart pups. Need experienced guardian.  Her personality (sensitive) and some body structure/movement has some Great Dane mix qualities but she is not as large.  She needs time to warm up to new people and then affectionate.  Well behaved at home. Loves going on walks and hikes.   Loves playing ball. Once she meets a dog, she wants to play. Noelle is too nervous to live with young children

Hi, I need a temporary foster home while I wait to be adopted. Will you please foster me?

3/10/22:  Nova now needs a new experienced foster home or forever home as the only dog.  She did great with adopter's 2 adult dogs, but now at 9 mos. old, she wants to the top alpha dog at home.  With her people, she is very sweet, smart, attentive, treat motivated, and loves snuggling. She needs to be the only dog in home.  No other dog or cats in home.

From her foster/adopters: She is a big, active girl who loves walks, playing fetch, and splashing around in her kiddie pool. Nova was originally adopted by her foster family who have had her since she was 9 weeks old and absolutely adore her. Unfortunately, despite growing up with their other dogs and doing great with them as a small puppy, as she grew to be the largest member of the pack she became reactive toward other dogs. Her family has worked with trainers on this issue. She is a very smart girl and is improving in public settings. Unfortunately, Nova is just not well-suited for life in a multi-dog household. Nova is cuddly and lovable with her people. She is a highly trainable girl, as she is very food-motivated and a fast learner. She has been through puppy training and excelled in agility activities. She does well in a crate. Nova is a sweet girl who just needs some solo attention. She would do well with an experienced handler in a home with no other animals or small children. https://photos.app.goo.gl/ejWd5yRDRpNBCQCt8

Below is from Nova's original posting in 2021:

We took in Nova from a kind lady that rescued her mom from a field in Bakersfield. Mom was starved and very skinny. Most likely dumped. Soon mom gave birth to one puppy. The guardian took her mom to her vet and had x-rays done, and no other pups. Nova is very special. Lady that found her already has 2 dogs (one senior dog with medical needs) and busy work schedule so she asked us to take in Nova to ensure her puppy training, care and socials. Nova is doing great at her foster home. She has huge paws, double rare dew claws, fluffy and very sweet. Not sure what breed mix she is. Mom is 60 lbs and very sweet. She will need a home with yard, prefer another dog at home, and experience with large dogs. Nova will be ready in 2-3 weeks after all her vet care. More info. to come.

8/21/21 update:  It took her 4-5 days to start playing with foster home's dog. Will chase the ball and chewing. Does like to dig. Loves food and treats. Going out to yard for potty biz and few accidents inside.

Pixel (DOB 3/28/12) is about as big of a purr machine as his brother, Chip. He loves getting attention from people and being noticed. He and his brother, Chip, were found living in a company parking garage. Although well-fed and healthy, the one thing they lacked was human companionship and socialization. Now in their foster home, they're learning all about the benefits of lap-sitting, petting, laser light playing, and overall adoration from humans. Since they are bonded, it's best for them to be adopted together as a pair. Although still a bit skittish, they are well on their way in transition from two healthy feral kittens to two healthy, active, and friendly in-your-face kittens. They just need a little more patience and understanding to complete their journey. Chip and Pixel will be showcasing every Saturday and Sunday at the Fremont Petco from 1-4. Come meet them and give them the attention and little kitty massages they crave.

Ranger was rescued from a distant shelter when his time was running out. He is very friendly, dog social, smart, active and has high drive potential for SAR. His foster home is training him for SAR or dog sport. Ranger is doing great with all their dogs and learning very fast. He is gorgeous.

Update:  Ranger is great adventure and hiking dog.  He is lovable, smart, eager to learn and has started some K9 Detection training.  Ranger would also do well in a fun dog sport or possible SAR.  He needs a active guardian for long walks, jogs or hikes.  He is great with other dogs to hang out but doesn't play with them.  He is more attentive to his person and will be your loyal BFF.  Loves to play fetch non-stop.  Very toy driven.

Need husky experienced guardian and home with fenced yard.  We have tried different high quality and holistic foods (kibble and can) but he has a sensitive GI and got loose stools.  He had a stool sample test and negative.  He does best eating Raw diet mix (frozen patties or freeze dry raw from Stella & Chewy and other brands).  No runny stools when he eats raw diet.

Snicker Doodle D4543 (Billy)

Size: 20

Age: 1 year 5 months

Holiday Cookie family. Oreo (mom), 2 pups, Ginger Snap and Chocolate Chip, and two other of their family, Sugar Cookie and Snicker Doodle, were all abandoned at a distant shelter when their previous elder guardian had health issues and had to move to a facility. They were all nervous, but Oreo and puppy Sugar Cookie warmed up the fastest. Snicker Doodle is more timid and needs more time to adjust to feel safe. All are very sweet and once comfortable, are friendly and enjoy attention. They had all their vet care vaccinations, deworm, Microchip and now relaxing and learning at their volunteer foster homes.

Dec 2023 Update: Snicker Doodle is shy and nervous at first but warms up and then friendly. He is very fond of Sugar Cookie and loves to play with her. He also loves to lay on his back and chill with his human on the sofa. He tries to chase the neighborhood cats, so no cats in home for him. He is friendly with other dogs once he gets to know them. Once he heals up from the neutering, we will try to walks around the neighborhood. Snicker Doodle would do best in a home with another dog or best, if adopted with Sugar Cookie. The two stick together all the time and comfort each other. Alone, he is very nervous and skittish. Need time to warm up. For his happiness, another dog at home or adopted with his buddy, Sugarcookie (Abby) is best.  He follows and sleeps with Abby.  Need home with backyard.

1/13/24 update: He can zip around like a fool and then bask in snuggles. He is very apprehensive of new people. We are still working on the walks. He’s a stubborn guy. When he doesn’t want to do something, he becomes dead weight. He won’t move. He loves to lay with his human and get snuggles. He loves playing with Sugar Cookie so I think he would be ok with other dogs. He sleeps all night without barking, he is anxious in new situations but he’s not a mean dog at all. He sheds only a little.

He needs training and time to learn to go on walks. Once outside of his home, he wants to run back inside. More of a home body due to being under socialized and was too isolated in home only. Must have a home with back yard.

He did well at his vacation home boarding with other dogs.  Trainer started to work with him with harness walk in backyard and he follows with treats.  He is very treat motivated so easier to trained than Sugar Cookie for walks.  Need experienced guardian to continue to work with him and baby steps to train to walk on leash.  Start in backyard and work up to front porch/lawn area using treats.

Snoopy D4619

Snoopy D4619 Hair/Color: Black
Gender: Male

Breed: French Bulldog / Cattle Dog Mix

Size: 30

Age: 6 months

Hi, I need a temporary foster home while I wait to be adopted. Will you please foster me?

Snoopy is part of Charlie Brown Litter.

Snoopy's DOB: 12/1/23.

As the pups grow, they need more one on one training.  If not adopted by 1/27/24, each puppy need foster homes to continue their training and socialization.

Almost there on house-training.  They love to go out to backyard to play and potty biz.

2/9/24 Update, 10 weeks old: Patty is definitely the smallest and smallest paws. Snoopy and Linus are about the same size 12 pounds and Patty is 10 lbs.. I think they will be medium sized dogs. Snoopy and Linus are slower and calmer. Patty is spunky and more independent and curious and a little more Frenchie personality . All are learning crate training with less accidents on pee pads and they go out to backyard for potty biz.

Need vacation fh 3/4 to 3/11.  Best if another foster home if possible.

Snowy D5051

Snowy D5051 Hair/Color: White
Gender: Male

Breed: Miniature Poodle / Dachshund Mix

Size: 16

Age: 16 years 8 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Snowy was rescued on 9/29/14 from a Santa Clara County shelter. Snowy is a very gentle and sweet dog. Very affectionate and does great with other dogs. He is recovering from severe neglect where he lived his life outside. Due to his severe matting he ended up having many open skin wounds which are now healing. He is undergoing extensive rehab, learning to live inside a house.

Update Oct 2014: Snowy is doing fantastic in his foster home. As the foster home states, "he is the perfect dog!" He does great with their dog and all family members. He enjoys going on walks and hikes. Since being in his foster home, we have discovered that Snowy may have a neurological/behavioral issue. He seems to be unaware of when he needs to go to the bathroom. He tends to soil himself without realizing it. Snowy was examined by a vet and all tests seemed to show no neurological issues. Instead the vet thought his issue was more behavioral, however there is no way to be 100% certain. The foster home has him wear diapers and it works great. Snowy will need that special person willing to take him as he is and boy will his forever home get so much more in return. He is just a love bug, loves being around people and especially loves to snuggle and be held. He is one of those dogs that has been through so much he now deserves his forever loving home.

Snowy is a Sanctuary Dog. Donations appreciated for his supplies (diaper/pads) & constant vet care needs (tests, x-rays, medications).

Update from foster home: Sugar Cookie is very friendly and playful with Snickerdoodle around. She loves to attack squeaky toys. She is skittish around new situations or alone, but also playful once comfortable. Both Sugar Cookie and Snicker Doodle are good dogs and love playing with each other.  She would be happier being adopted with Snicker Doodle or have another friendly small dog at home. Need home with backyard. She needs training and time to learn to go on walks. Once outside of home, she wants to run back inside.

She adjusted and did well at home vacation boarding. Still not comfortable with walks yet with harness. Need experienced person to do baby steps to learn and let her wear a harness and walk around yard, then later see out front lawn area. She is not as treat motivated as Snicker Doodle. She will chase cats.

Yuki

Yuki Hair/Color: White
Gender: Female

Breed: Maltese / Miniature Poodle

Size: 11

Age: 1 year 11 months
Listed By: Furry Friends Rescue

Yuki was rescued from an over-crowded shelter. She was dumped out of a car at a park and then spent much time at the shelter. Had ear infections that were treated by shelter vet. She has been cooped up with pent up energy. She is active and needs exercise and training. She is having fun running and doing zoomies in her foster home's backyard. Already learned to use their doggie door. Now a happy little girl. Dog and people friendly.  Tested fine with dogs at the shelter, but they didn't do the dog guarding test.  More info to come as she learns and gets healthy at her foster home. She will get her 2nd vet appt and grooming soon.

Update. Urgent. Day two. She needs a new experienced and adult foster home with no other dog at home. Yuki is a dominant female to other dogs and wants to be the top and only dog in household. She attacked the foster home’s Maltese male dog a few times today. Even when he was sleeping, she jumped him. Keeping separate with dog pen. She needs an experienced adult home only with no other dog at home that can train and guide her. Not over coddle for bad behavior. She has to learn to listen to person and not guard person to another dog. Fine with adults and sweet. Not safe around kids since she did react after a dog fight. Learned doggie door right away. House trained. Fast walker and need exercise. Can meet new dogs on walks to sniff but then she ignores. She was under socialized as a pup. She is cute but has strong alpha personality to other dogs.

Update 5/19/24:  Yuki has learned and now doing much better with current foster home's dog.  They can co-exist.  She is very sweet and playful with adults.  Will need adult home.  Sleeps in bedroom.  Maybe older kids 14 yrs and up with experience.
