Bernie

This Animal is in URGENT need of home!

Bernie is a very confident guy who gets along with most all dogs with the exception of dogs not neutered. He has a strong prey drive so a home without cats would be essential. Bernie is very obedient and loves to high five. He is very food motivated and extremely intelligent. Difficult to tell from these photos but Bernie is very strong and, I believe, would do best with very loving adults who are experienced in handling dogs. Bernie loves long walks and does best walked with a harness. He seems to like kids but I feel older children would be best. I have walked him with non aggressive dogs and he does fine. I had 2 local trainers check him out and both felt good about him. One strongly recommended his new family work with a trainer since he is a very strong dog. Once well exercised in the play yard he is a dream to walk. We are working on getting him to walk loose leash even without first exercising.

Bernie showed up with rusty chains around his neck and he did not trust being touched on the head. we did desensitizing exercises, touch treat, and he has learned to trust.

Bernie is in a foster home currently.
