Evan (Watch my video!) was rescued from TCAS on 2/18/10.  He is friendly, sweet and spunky.  Good with some dogs and loves to play with certain dogs he respect as a equal (like Tilly who is also dominate).  He is alpha with many dogs and may guard his chew toy/food against other dogs.  Curious of vet office cats (sniffed & followed the cat) but don't know if he may chase cat at home .  Evan is a velcro doggie.  He loves to be with his people at all times.  Since he watches his human constantly, he's a perfect candidate for obedience classes.  He's very smart!  he learned to sit and stay for his meals in just three feedings.  He's also a great walking companion, happily trotting at your side for three miles.  Of course snuggling up for a nap afterward is a must.  Since Evan does not like to be left alone, he would do best with someone who works from home.  He is good with certain dogs, like Tilly, who is his equal.  He is not a doggie day care or dog park dog since he may try to be top dog.  Experience and kind leadership home only.  Adult only.

Janny (aka: Scout) was adopted as a puppy and now returning to FFR.  She is a sweet girl and and a loyal companion.  She needs someone to take her out for daily walks and exercise and continue with her socialization.  She was nervous around other dogs at her prior home, but now she has learned to be around other dogs and fine.  She is protective of her home to strangers and needs proper introductions.  She is only doing her job and needs an experience guardian to tell her when to protect and when she doesn't have to.  Adult home only.  No kids.

6/30/10 update:  Janny is now fine with other dogs and plays with them.  Polite young lady and social.  Also friendly with all people visiting.  All she needed was some time with other dogs and a experienced foster person.  She will also walk into the pool and swim and come back out on her own.  She is ready and waiting for her forever home!

Rescued from TCAS on 4/13/10.   He is very friendly with people and playful with other dogs.  With the male dog I tested him with, he tried to play mount and kept wanting to play.  He is cooperative when we gave a slight tug on leash to stop.  Alone, he is very sweet and loves treats.  At first he tried to take treats fast, but he learned quickly to take treats gently. He will sit, shake and catch treats.  He played ball a little.  Affectionate and loves attention.  Enjoys being petted and relaxing next to us.  Eager to learn.  Need basic training with experienced person.  He's a strong boy with a big heart.

Alex (Watch my video!) was rescued on 6/4/10 from a shelter.  He is very friendly, lovable, smart and eager to learn.  He is always ready to play ball or tug-o-war, but will also settle down when told to. He will sometimes play alone while he tosses around one of his toys. He is dog friendly and plays well with other dogs. Since he is confident and active, he needs a very experienced person to train and exercise him.

He comes when called and knows "sit", "shake" and "down". He will stop whatever he is doing when he hears "eh eh eh". He waits patiently for his meals and will only eat when told "ok". He is very good when going for a walk or a run and likes to go for car rides. He showed interest in cats on a walk with his foster, but did not try to chase.

Alvin (Watch my video!) was rescued from TCAS on 6/26/09.  He was scared of the shelter environment.  Felt better with another dog in his cage.  He is a great companion dog and loves to play vigorously all day, then curl up for a restorative nap with his buddy. He loves going for walks, and is better on the leash if he's being walked with a doggy friend. He can be timid meeting new people, and needs to feel safe first. Once you spend time with him, he will happily come to you for treats and pets. Loving and friendly once he knows you.  He's got a ton of energy and needs daily exercise. He's potty-trained and good with calm cats. He prefers to have another dog in the household to play with.  

Update:  Alvin has grown up and now friendly with everyone.  He knows he is safe and has learned much at his foster home.  So loving home with moderate exercise/walks.  Kids 10 yrs+.

Like to take my toys into the bathtub and run around; will "help" with mopping, sweeping, making beds, and will want to help you brush your teeth. Love to cuddle under your chin while you watch TV. I am Adorable and charming and want to be your best friend forever. Great with other indoor cats.   Full of personality and life.  He loves to play with his toys in the bathtub, and play fetch (actually brings the toy back to me)!

Angelo had been to a specialist and got confirmation of a Progressive Restrictive Cardiomyopathy and mild non-progressive cardiomyopathy.  The vet could not give us any idea if and when his heart would start giving him difficulties. Vet did state that someday when it does act up there are meds that will help for awhile.

Ashley was rescued from a local shelter on December 5, 2009.  Ashley is a very friendly and loving dog with a wonderful temperment.  She loves to cuddle and is great with other dogs and kids.  She is quite affectionate. She likes attention and the human touch especially a scratch on the head and a rub on the belly. She gets along well very well with other dogs and loves to play. She is good about taking turns when being given treats. She is past the puppy stage so is well behaved. She is playful, likes to play with chew toys and chase an occasional ball. She enjoys being outdoors and going for a walk. She is kennel trained so she very comfortable resting, sleeping and spending time in there. She likes to be where there is human activity and voice, while being in her kennel.   She will need TPLO surgery on both her knees. Donations needed.

Update:  Ashley will have her first TPLO surgery on one of her rear legs on 1/13/10 at Veterinary Surgical Associates (VSA), Dublin.   http://www.vsasurgery.com/about/dublin.html

Update: She is doing fine after her first surgery. She will have the second knee done in mid-March.  She will then need to recover in her foster home for 8 weeks.  So she'll be available for adoption in mid-May.  The doctors say that she will return to full unrestricted activity and be able to run and play like a normal dog.  This surgery reconstructs the knee and makes it strong enough to handle normal dog activities.

Update: She had her second knee surgery on March 24 and is recovering extremely well.  She is enjoying her short walks and is getting lots of TLC in her foster home.    We are happy to accept applications from families interested in meeting her. Ashley would do best in a home without children.

Axel is a neutered energetic young male GSP! This handsome fellow needs to put on some weight, but he loves to run and play ball. He’s a lover and is very eager to please his people! Axel is learning off leash recall and comes to you when you blow kisses.

Since he guards his food and toys, we are recommending that he be an only dog with no other pets in the home, and any children in the home be 13 and up. He’ll do best with an experienced owner to provide the structure and training he will need, and a home situation with active people but not lots of comings/goings and in an area where off-leash dogs are not likely to be present.
Axel needs a foster home with dog experience and no other dogs. His new foster home needs to be willing to follow provided protocols and give daily medication.

Barney D2360 (old D1401) Pepito

Barney (Watch my video!) was rescued from Hayward Animal Shelter 1/7/05. He was there since 12/6/04.   He was adopted but now returned to FFR June 22, 2009 because his family now has twin toddlers and no time for him.  He is gentle and sensitive.  Happy boy who is friendly and well behaved.  He enjoys being petted on his head/body but not his rear/hind leg (he will warn/nibble).  No medical reason.  Behavorial.  Now that is comforable at his foster home, he trusts her and no problem.  He prefers not to be over-coddled.  He's very frighten of the vet office and hates vet exams.  Good with other dogs when he lived with 3 others.  Nice to new gentle dogs.  Will bark back at assertive dogs.  He loves his walks to sniff and good on leash.  He enjoys lounging around at home and will follow you around. Knows the doggie door.  Loves treats and will sit on command.  Obedient and well behaved at home.  He needs a  experienced Cocker Spaniel guardian with leadership and stable routine.  No kids.  Quiet and stable adult home.  He is soulful and adorable, quirks and all.

Bernie came from TCAS 2/19/04. Bernie is a happy, friendly & sweet with people. He may prefer to be the only dog. He was dog friendly at the shelter, but not at previous foster home. He's afraid of cats ignores them inside. He likes all types of people, especially kids. Bernie has a winning smile and a very expressive face. He can melt your heart when he looks at you quizzically with his big brown eyes. Bernie is so looking forward to having his very own family to love, snuggle and go for walks.  He wants to be your best friend and prefer to be the only dog in the household.

7/23/10:  Unfortunately, we had to rescue Bernie from a shelter due to financial hardship and lost interest to care for him as a family member.  We are taking care of his basic vet needs and getting to know him again.  He is a sweetie.  Well mannered, cooperative, good on the leash, easy going and wonderful.  He was nice to other dogs at the vet office and ignored the cats.

Update:  Now that Bindi is comforable at her foster home and weeks later, she is now very confident and trying to be alpha to people.  She has started to guard her chew treats and will nip if you try to take it away.  She needs to learn "Trade" for better item.  At her very young age, she is showing her very strong personality of JR who wants her way.  She needs a kind leader guardian with training experience.  No Kids since she is not afraid to nip.  She is now attending basic training classes and working with a trainer.

Bruno was dumped at a local veterinarian when he was 6 weeks old. He is fully vaccinated (until 1/2/11), neutered, microchipped and has had his retained baby teeth pulled. He is great with dogs (especially big dogs), cats, adults, kids and babies. At first he does bark at other dogs, but it's just because he wants them to chase him!  He is a perfect sweetie and friendly with everyone. Needs basic training.

Bulls Eye is a wonderfully affectionate lap cat who instantly loves both humans and other cats. Because of a birth defect, he is technically a special needs kitty. He has a congenital bone disorder that causes his front legs to bow and limp. However, the only compensation required are food supplements and pain medication in his food. Otherwise, he runs, jumps, and plays with no problems. Bulls Eye is looking for someone who can overlook his physical imperfection and embrace his incredible loving nature. Great things come in imperfect packages.

Buster (watch my video!) was rescued on 7/5/10.  His mother was not even a year old and was found crouched in a gutter in on a busy street.  A kind family took her in, and she gave birth to 3 kittens.  Buster was the smallest kitten in his litter so he naturally had to be the bravest.  Buster is curious about everything, and can turn anything into a toy.  He likes cats and kittens and would do best with a kitty companion. Buster also really likes people.  He follows his foster mother around, and will even take time out from wild kitten play with his foster brother and sister to come and see how she is doing, and ask for some serious petting or brushing, and lap time.  Buster's mother and siblings are Maine coon mixes - although Buster did not get the fur or the size, he certainly got the wonderful Maine coon personality.

Butterscotch lost his eye on a rose thorn when he was a kitten. but that doesn't stop him. He can run and play just like other cats and makes the cutest faces. He's sweet and a bit shy...and would do well in a one kitty household where he can be the center of attention. He was adopted Nov, 2005 by an elderly person who became too ill to care for him and returned him to us. He was adopted again, but months later returned him due to personal health reasons. Good with other dogs at his foster home and playful.  Now that has settled in his foster home, he can be reactive to other dogs at showcases.  He need continue training to learn to meet new dogs nicely.  Need experience guardian to work with him.  He can be carried. Timid of loud sounds and fast movement, so kids 12 yrs+. More information to come.

Cassidy has been with her foster home since she was 3 weeks old.  She lives with her foster family with two other cats and the foster's family dogs.  Cassidy has grown up to be a vocal kitty, always letting everyone know when the food dish is empty by letting out a long, drawn out 'meeeeeoooooow' .  As she grew into an adolescent cat from a kitten, she has lost her confidence.  When the house is quiet, she will join her foster parents on the couch for some chin and back scratches.  She sleeps on the bed with the foster parents and the other two cats.  When elsewhere in the house, she is constantly on guard.  Her nervous behavior is here to stay, but this does not take away from the enjoyment that her company and presence brings.  She is still very playful, batting around her cat toys and carrying them around with her.

Darling Duke came to Furry Friend Rescue from the Oakland Shelter on Dec. 21,2005.  He was adopted in Jan. 2006, but was returned on 1/2010 due to young grandchild coming over for visits, and Duke is fearful of young kids. Duke is very friendly and loves his walks. Great little doggy who loves his toys. Great with his dog buddy at home. Will empty the toy box-taking one toy at a time, pile them all up and then lay down with his head on his toys. Just adorable! He needs a quiet adult home. Kids 12 years +.  No cats. He loves to be your best friend and snuggle. 

Update on Duke:
Duke has been a very happy friendly boy at his foster home. He is so cute and talks to you. He had skin issues which is now being cleared up with vet care meds and holistic/raw food diet. 

2/14/10
Suddenly he lost use of his rear legs. We rushed him to the vet where he got x-rays and then had to go to Bay Area Veterinary Specialists (BAVS) to see a neurologist and needs to be hospitalized. Tomorrow, he will get a CT Scan to confirm if one of his spinal disc is the issue. If so, he will have surgery to repair his disc so he can live a normal life and walk. His surgery & medical tests/care is $4200.00 so far.  Sponsorship for his surgery and vet care is greatly needed. Please help us by donate online. Thank you!

2/17/10:  Duke has a herniated disc and a tumor on his kidney.  We are now awaiting results of his TruCut Biopsy of the tumor for cancer.  Meanwhile, he has shown improvement today and started to walk again.  So he is now back home with his foster home to relax & hopefully recover til possible surgeries.

Unfortunately, the biopsy shows the tumor is cancer on his kidney.  He is doing well and walking again so his spinal disc is healing.  He will now be a FFR Sanctuary Dog.

Little Eddie came to FFRescue from the Oakland Shelter on 3-24-06. He was adopted on 3/25/06, but returned to us on 5/12/10 because his family now has young grand kids visiting that make him nervous.  He is a little lover boy who loves to cuddle in your arms or on your lap. Good with dogs.  Was nice with the vet office cat, but we don't know in a home. Eddie is a sweetheart and very adorable.  Loves going for walks and snuggling. An adult, experienced home where someone is around more.  He is bright, delightful, a charmer for sure.  He may guard high value items or space to person or kids, and needs a very experience guardian who understands Lhasa Apso personality and be a kind leader to make sure he does not try to take a alpha position at home.  He should not have bed nor sofa privileges.  Adult quiet home only.

He does a few tricks for treats.  He can shake hands, roll over (with a hand motion, just move your hand in a circular motion and he will roll over), play dead (shoot him with your finger and say "bang!"), and lay down "down".  He sits with command "sit" and hand motion.  He is doing great at his foster home.  A perfect gentleman.

Lady was returned on 4/8/10 since she needs a quieter home (less foot traffic of people) and experienced, kind leadership guardian.  Lady was rescued from Tri-City Animal Shelter. She is very well behaved at home, friendly and very sweet. Can be petted all over, carried, good on the leash, and gentle. Sits for treats and very attentive and obedient. She seems to prefer gentle male dogs (small or big) to be next to them, sniff, walk around but doesn't play with other dogs. Did not like a over-active female jumping at her.  She will bark at other dogs on walks and needs a person with training skills.  She prefers to be the only dog in the household.  Ok with cats.  Friendly with people at our vet office.  Once settled in her home, she may try to protect your home to strangers since she has some cattle dog traits.  So she needs a leader to train her with new people and proper introductions.  Confident Adult home with experience.  She wants to be your best friend.

Laney is a stunning black girl with light tabby markings. Laney is very shy, and cannot be handled really. She prefers spending her days watching the world go by atop her cat tree. She gets along with easy mellow cats, but should not be in a home with dogs or children. A quite household with the least amount of noise is best for her.  Fiona and her 4 kittens, Laney. Lexi, Levi and Luna, were rescued from  TCAS on 5/28/09.  The 4 kittens are a little on the timid but friendly.  All beautiful and adorable.

Leor has been neutered and Lucy has been spayed. Up to date on all vaccinations. They are being fostered and are doing just fine...enjoying being groomed by the resident kitty and love sleeping under the covers in their foster Mom's bed and playing with her toes. They would love to be adopted together if at all possible.

Levi 05-3572- male, 9 weeks.Fiona and her 4 kittens, Laney. Breed: Dachshund / Poodle Mix

Liam (Watch my video!) was rescued on 6/30/10 from TCAS.  He was badly neglected and very matted with fox tails, so the shelter had to shave him.  He is gentle, very friendly and sweet. Easy going.  Good with other dogs.  No cats.  He seems well behaved and cooperative.  He rode to freedom in the volunteer's car seat and enjoyed it.  Lovable once he knows you and will give you a gentle kiss.

Liam is gentle and mellow. It took a couple weeks in his foster home before he was relaxed enough to start playing with toys and the other dogs. Now he is one of the pack and romping and playing! He is learning commands like sit, wait, and leave-it. He rarely barks and really bonds to his human. LOVES his belly rubs and will ask for more if you stop... so cute!

Licoris (May 16, 2010) is a beautiful Smoky Tortie kitten. She has fantastic markings on her face. Licoris was found in San Leandro as a 5-week-old kitten and rescued from TCAS the same day. She is very socialized with the rest of the foster kittens in her foster home. Licoris has taken to indoor living very easily and accepted both food and litter box life very well. She has a soft purr and is learning to ask for more and more petting and belly rubs. Licoris will be ready for adoption by the end of July as she has the rest of her medical to complete. If you are looking for a beautiful Tortie kitten perhaps she is the one.

Lizzie was rescued on 7/25/10 from SJAC from pts list. She is adorable. Gentle, friendly and cuddly. She was a little timid of new enviroment at vet office, but after a short time and a walk with another dog, she perked up and happy.

Very sweet. She is great with other dogs and wants to play. Seem to ignore the vet office cats. She's a little model and smiles! What a cutie!

Lyndon came back to FFR after being adopted as a puppy.  He lived with the same loving family his whole life, but returned due to lack of time. Lyndon has also lived with cats (young and old) all of his life, and gets along with them very well.  He had surgery on both knees (anterior cruciate ligament(TPLO).  He has recovered well and enjoys his walks.  He is very strong and needs a strong and experienced handler.  Needs to be in an only dog home.  He does not get along well with other dogs and will sometimes bark at them on leash.  He is currently in training with his foster home.  He does best when he's in the house and will get anxious if he is left outside.  He can be protective of his family at times.
He would do best in a home with kids 15 +.

Maggie McFarland

Breed: Cattle Dog / Husky

"Maggie McFarland" is an irresistably cute 6-7 month old female Australian Cattle Dog/Husky mix who is exceptionally calm and sweet. No obsessive/compulsive herding behavior in this dog! Maggie loves everyone and would likely be great with young kids. (She was initially very mouthy, but that behavior has subsided considerably.) She loves to be petted and sometimes sleeps right next to me all curled up. Maggie is great with other dogs--playful but not incessant or dominant. She's super-smart and never had a single accident in the house. She listens well and comes running when I call her. Maggie's practically non-destructive; the only thing I've seen her chew on in the house is the plastic legs to an office chair, and then she barely left a tooth-mark. Maggie presently weighs about 30 lbs and will likely weigh nor more than 50 lbs fully grown. She will make a great family dog.

Maggie received her last name from the town of McFarland, near Bakersfield. It was there in early April that another dog rescuer found Maggie wandering around just off Hwy 99! She picked Maggie up and when she couldn't find her owner, took her home. She already had too many dogs so sought another rescue for her. Though Maggie has no GSD in her, she was just the right age to be a playmate for Feisty--a GSD mix that I had rescued--and so I took her in. Sure enough, she's been a wonderful playmate for Feisty, and a fun dog to just have around. Maggie's adoption fee is $250.

Marcus is a very friendly and charming guy. However, as is the case with many handsome cats, he doles out affection on his own terms. Although he doesn't appreciate being picked up and held, he does enjoy hanging out with people and getting attention. Anyone interested in adopting him will probably have to be patient as he develops his own brand of affection. Marcus was found as a very small kitten living in a feral colony. Before it was too late, he was socialized to live as a loving companion cat. Affection just needs to be his idea and on his schedule. But it will be worth the wait.

Marley was rescued on 7/2/10 from a shelter.  He was timid at the shelter, but once out, he relaxed and warmed up.  He is gentle and sweet.  Good with other dogs.  A little nervous of fast movement.  Once he knows you, and feels safe, he is affectionate and gives kisses.  At his foster home, he does not like being left home alone and will bark, so he needs someone around more.  He does need a kind leader to teach him not to guard person and relax being left.  At his first foster home with 2 other dogs, he was fine.

Mikey is a 7 year old Bichon Frise owner surrender.  His guardian due to health reasons, could no longer care for him...but she loved him very much, and he was taken care of to the extreme.  He is current on all of his shots and medical care and has just been groomed.  He is a beautiful example of a Bichon and has a very long, silky tail.  He is very well adjusted, but a littly shy, and misses his owner terribly.  He slept in bed with her, and that is important to him.  He probably would enjoy a similar home, where he is someone's only baby and spoiled...maybe with a retired couple wanting a baby to love and care for.  He has no aggression issues and is as sweet as suger!!!

Enjoy going for walks. A little shy of fast grab but relaxes once he knows he's safe, and cuddly.  He had kennel cough at the shelter, but recoverying at our vet office.  Was ok with vet office cat. Molly is a one-year old dachshund and miniature pincher mix (with a dash of chihuahua?) weighing in at a petite six pounds.  Her fur is sleek and soft and very, very short: she doesn’t seem to shed.  She is house-trained, crate-trained, barks rarely and hasn’t chewed on any of her foster mom’s stuff.  Good girl!  She walks well on leash and is learning some basic commands.  She’s good with well-behaved children and loves to play with other dogs, especially ones her size.

Now the fun stuff:
1) Molly lives to be cuddled and be right next to you.  She loves to be held and will give tons of kisses and delicately place her little paw on your nose.  Awww!
2) She’s spring loaded!  She can jump straight up in the air several feet and can perch on the back of chairs like a cat.
3) She loves to play with her toys and will start fun games on her own by tossing them up in the air for herself.  If you or a dog buddy would join in, she’s in heaven.
4) You’ll never have cold feet in bed again.  Molly loves to curl up at your feet UNDER the covers.  Warm, toasty and cuddly.
5) That tiny little face wears a perpetual smile.   Seriously, this little girl’s goofy grin will put a smile on your face, too.
6) Woo, hoo, she loves the BEACH!  She chases gulls, explores like a pirate hunting treasure and digs tunnels to China.

Molly would be happiest in a home where she can be with her person as much as possible, either at home or work.  She would make a great second dog.  She is young so she does need a couple short walks a day and/or fun play sessions.   She’s not bossy or dominant so would be an easy dog for a first-time dog parent.

Yes he's a charmer, and what a spunky little guy! Such a loving and social dog, he'll soon have a big place in your heart!  He has a lot of life to share with one lucky family.  He loves his walks and walks great on his leash, like a young pup and smiles the whole way! If he can't make you laugh no one can.  One of the most entertaining and super nice dogs ever!  He so deserves a better second half to his life. He just wants to be together with you. We hope that soon there will be no more lonely days for this companion dog. Small dogs like this will often live over 15 years so please don't pass him over just because he is 10. Children 8 years old and over please.

Nellie D2617 *Sanctuary Dog*

Nellie was rescued on 10/19/09 from a shelter where she was scared in her cage and was there for weeks. Once out, she is very friendly and sweet. Good with other dogs and plays. She hates the crate/cage (who can blame her) and will whine/bark when she sees you, but will settle. She sniffed the vet office cat and seem to be timid of the cat.  Most likely trainable.

She loves to run and zoom around.  Need daily exercise and basic training. More info. to come.

Nellie has been having seizures and now on medication for epilepsy.  She also seems to be having neurological issues and not housetrained (she doesn't seem to be able to control it) and some rear leg problems.

Due to all her medical needs, she will remain in her foster home who loves her and can care for her medical needs as a FFR Sanctuary Dog.

Nigel  07-2002, DOB 5/2004. Nigel and his brother, Quincy, are very friendly and playful, and they enjoy being handled. Oliver was rescued on 7/28/10 from a shelter. Poor Oliver was badly neglected. He was badly matted (long shaggy coat) with grass burrs and dirt embedded to his skin, like he has never been bathed or brushed. Has a little skin infection around his eyes from allergy or poor nutrition/dirt and ear infection.

He is a warm and affectionate doggie. Happy go-lucky. He loves giving you kisses and wants to snuggle and be petted. Needs basic training. He is great with other dogs and wants to play with them. He has a heart of gold and now that he has been bathed & groomed (shaved), he feels much better.  He will need time to eat well and get healthy.  Soon his new coat will grow back and he'll be gorgeous.  More updates to come.

Beautiful Persephone is well behaved in the home, good with people she knows and knows some basic commands. She grew up with her brother. But, now grown up, she is very fearful of strangers and new dogs at first, but will settle. She needs a quiet adult home with experience in handling her when meeting or seeing other dogs and new people and helping her learn it is positive.  Since she is doing so well at her foster home, she is now a sanctuary dog so she won't have to go thru another change which is terrifying for her.

Update:  Pinto loves diving into a pool and swimming!  He will repeatly dive, pick up item in pool, swim and goes to stairs to get out, and will do dive in again.  He might be a great Dock Diving dog!

Rocky is one smart dog! He learned to sit for food almost instantly and always gives a big smile when he performs well. He is a happy boy whether he is playing with other dog, alone in his room or sleeping in the sun outside. He has a nice amount of puppiness (which always makes us smile) but is maturing into a fine young dog. Rocky loves to go for rides and to watch flies buzz by. He will be happy with a family or an adult only household. With a little confidence building, some basic obedience lessons, and of course a lot of love and attention, Rocky will really thrive. Rocky is very adaptable and although he’d love to stay with Rainbow, his litter mate, he should do well with other dogs or being an only dog.

Rosie came in with Frankie, who we think might be her son and both are terrific dogs with hearts of gold! Rosie has to win the blue ribbon for sweetness! Such a love, and she always has a smile for everyone! Very well behaved and good on her leash, Rosie is a cheerful, pleasant companion. She may bark in her kennel when she sees you, but she's just saying, look at me! She's an extremely gentle dog and will make you happy just being around her! Children 8 years old and over.

Breed: Shepherd Mix

Ruby is a youngster at approximately 9 mos. - 1 year of age (approx dob: Sep 2009). She is active, energetic, and very friendly with people and children of all ages. She is also good with other dogs and may do fine with cats. Her initial introduction showed that she was submissive to a cat when face to face with one.

Ruby was found abandoned with her mother, Rose. Ruby is a mixed breed with shepherd and more. She is golden red in color with a very short-haired shepherd coat. Sadie was adopted from us a puppy, but now returning due to personal issues and move.  She needs a active family that wants to take her places - she would be a major player in agility - we tried her on agility equipment and she loved it.  Good with other dogs when introduced right.  No dog park dog since if another dog gets aggressive with her she will not back down.  She may guard her food bowl to another dog. Sadie loves all people.

Sandy is a sweet, loving 13 year old year old, smaller, Shepherd mix breed. She loves people and especially women. She is about 45 lbs. She needs a home where she is the only dog as she seldom gets along with other dogs.

Sandy has always been an outside dog and has not been house trained. It is no fault of her own that Sandy is looking for a new home, but, sadly, her owner passed away recently. Sergio and his buddy, Patrick, were rescued on 4/7/10 from a shelter.  He is friendly and adorable.  Sergio is smart, loves to be your best friend and follow you around.  He's a rare breed who need special care of his skin against sun exposure on hot days and a coat during the winter.  He's so adorable and very well behaved.  He does need someone around more, or he will bark if left home alone.  He is so charming, alert, agile and playful.  He loves playing and being with other dogs and must have another playful dog at home.  He is active when playing with two other dogs in his foster home.  He is very friendly and would make a great pet therapy doggie.

Hi my name is Snickers, I had a rough start.  I was dropped off at the shelter and because I had a eye problem and very, very young,they were going to put me to sleep.  Thanks to Furry Friends, I got rescued and now I am doing great.  I'm a very happy kitty and I get along with everyone I meet.  I'm very active and playful (my foster mom thinks too active sometimes). I just enjoy life and I'm glad to be here.

I really want to go to a new home with a young cat or a kitten my size.  I haven't had much feline companionship because of my eye problem, but now that I'm in good shape, I really want to play with another friendly kitty

Breed: Bichon Frise

Sport is a year old male Bichon Frise with lots of energy. We got Sport as a companion for our male Bichon. Turns out Sport prefers to be the only male dog in the home. Sport is crate trained and if you put a bell on your door he will know to ring it when he needs to go for a walk, potty, or just get some air.

He loves squicky toys especially ones shaped like shoes! Sport will bark when he hears unfamiliar noises. He's timid and shy and takes awhile to warm up to you but he eventually will give you all his love.

We love him to death but Sport would have a much better life if he was in a home with a female dog, or being the only dog. He will need an experienced Guardian so that Sport doesn't think he's the boss.

Once she knows you, she looks at you with her big brown eyes and gives you kisses.  She's simply IRRESISTIBLE !!  She is adorably affectionate, loyal, snuggly, loving, and playful with people.  She's the absolutely perfect dog in terms of energy. She matches her energy level to yours completely. She loves good walks and will relax or nap on your lap.  She will entertaining you by tossing her toys around for hours.  She loves riding in the car and she greets happily.  Tilly is a little discriminating and needs a home with just adults because she bonds completely with her guardians and becomes very protective of her person.  Once she is bonded to you, she will try to protect you against other people and dogs, so you need to be a experienced and kind leader to ensure she is not allowed to protect you.  She also needs a adult home where there are no other cats or dogs or easy going submissive dog.

We rescued Titan from a shelter where he was running out of time, mostly due to a dog-aggressive and redirect behavioral problem. But there's something special about Titan and so we decided to put in an extra effort to help him and is responding very well with dogs on-site now.  He's a beautiful dog, very affectionate and loves people.  Very affectionate, loves to play ball and well behaved at home.  He needs a very experienced GS person who will continue his training and exercise him daily.  His trainers are willing to continue working with whomever adopts him. He now has a bright future and will thank you every day.

Tito is a very happy fun dog.  He's always ready to play, go on walks, or just cuddle in your lap.  He listens to you, easily trainable, he'll do just about anything for a treat.  He loves riding in the car, always ready for the next adventure.  He does well with all people, just play with him and he's happy.

She is cat friendly and dog friendly (large and small) at her foster home.  Her two kittens grew up and now adopted, so now Tyra needs her forever home.

Wallice was adopted from us by his foster home a few years ago, but now returning due to changes in their household.  Wallice is a go go kid - does well with most small dogs - good at small dog parks - can get scared at large dog.  LOVES to go everywhere with you and good on trails/hikes.  Need a home with someone around more or with another dog to play with.  He is a alarm barker....takes time to warm up to strangers, but once he knows you, he is friendly and a sweetie.

Yan-Zi (watch my video!) was adopted as a puppy from Sunnyvale Animal Shelter, born March 7, 2001 she is a sweet loving dog. Very smart and well trained (16 week obedience class when she was 10 or 12 weeks old), she knows many commands from sit, down, side, no jumping, don't touch, leave it, drop, give, easy, go fetch, let's go, no, stop, go back, give me a paw, go to your mat and more! Unfortunately the family moved to China and surrendered Yan-zi to FFR on 3/16/10.  

Very good on a leash and very easy to travel with. Has been very well loved and would love a home to live out her years fetching balls, cuddling with you, or going on walks. Good with people and kids (she adored family's son). LOVES everyone young or old. Very good natured.  She is good with other gentle dogs that don't jump all over her and used to being the only dog in the household.   She is doing well at her temp. foster home. Healthy and Up to date on all shots.  She is a LOVE!

Zucko will absolutely make a perfect companion for the whole family.  With such a gentle and patient nature, he has taken a very special place in all our hearts.  It's almost as if this happy, playful boy with the calm of a much older dog can almost feel what you want of him. Wonderful on his walks with a tail that never stops, Zucko will sit and greet everyone with a friendly handshake.  He's truly one of a kind. Zucko has a simple skin condition which is being treated and he will soon be as good as new!  He is not contagious to people of other animals.
